I need to redo my 109s.

I dunno whats happened over the years, but when I just redownloaded all the skins and set everything up, I noticed that all my Rumanian 109s have suffered major color bleeding on the insignias, loss of resolution on the camo schemes, and in some cases the panel lines and weathering are completely blurred out. Looks like I'm gonna have to start a new project to reskin them. The 109G6 looks the worst, but the rest could use a facelift too.

To photoshop we go!

Are you sure that your max texture setting is set to 1024 and not to 512 or less?

How about some allied Rumanian 109's? Could be fun for scenario's 109 v 109.

Maxing them out does make them look better, but I still think I can easily improve at least the G6. Gonna take another crack at it. Might do an Allied skin for the G6 and G14 (as a late-build G6) too.

Yellow 3 is the one I tried last time, might give it another try now.

One note, Lyric's G-6s are practically G-14s. They got the Erla canopy, and possibly the MW50 too. The MW50 as a retrofit set was delivered to the Hungarians in '44 early summer, possibly in the same time for the Romanians, also Romania switched sides in '44 August.

Anyway, allied, Romanian 109s... NOM NOM

If it's got MW50 it should go on the G-14 in-game. Especially in conjunction with the tall tail and erla haube.

If it's got MW50, technically it's a G14. G14 was a G-6 with a MW50 kit installed. There are so many different visual cues and internal configurations, but pretty much the one solid bet is the MW50 boost system.

Think of it this way: Our anemic 109G-6 is the EXACT same plane as the G-14 we have in-game, just the G-14 has MW50 boost. Off-wep they're the same. On-wep the G14 is nearly identical to the K-4 in performance (down low, not counting up at alt where the K-4 owns all).

There were G-14s delivered without the MW-50 as there were G-6s delivered with it. As far as AH goes, I would submit the skins based on the canopy of the original.

You will want to hold off doing any skins updates until the next release of Aces High is done, due to the addition of bump mapping.

The number of G-14s delivered without MW50 is very small. They were always intended to have it I recall. The number of G-6s with MW60 was larger, BUT these also had other attributes and dozens of other later war configurations.

You can't go only on the canopy... the canopies could be on any number of airframes. You should tailor it more to the performance/capabilities of the airframe in question. I.E if you have a G10 it's better to put it on the K-4 skin than on the G-14 skin. Any G-6 with MW50 deserves to be on a G14 in this game. To do otherwise would be like skinning a K-4 airframe onto the G-6 in-game. It woudl be an incorrect matchup of the history and the available rides.


EDIT: I mean this in general. As a blanket statement. In the specific case of these profiles, they happen to match the in-game G-14 canopy. So, that works out fine, but i was more discussing the overall process rather than this one plane.

I plan on doing a late-war Allied Rumanian 109 as a G14 simply because it's the only model of our Gustav that has the taller tail. They never got Ks, but there are many photos of them with tall tailed 109Gs at the end of the war.

Well, I happen to disagree as I find the outward appearance more important. Erla Haube in place of a heavy frame canopy, and vice versa, looks just silly.
