 I have heard a lot of disappointment about the X65 from guys in the game. A squaddie of mine could never get use to it. He finally stoped using it. Madcatz/Saitek have a bad rep for making junk and not backing it up from what I understand. I had a x52 that lasted a long time but it was only 100 bucks. I would hate to spend 300+ and have it break as James mentioned.

 I had a Warthog. I sent it back because I felt the spring pressure on the stick was way too tight. Thats just a matter of opinion and Im sure there are people who either dont mind that or like it that way. It took a good bit of effort to get it off center because of the tension. I like being able to "two finger" my stick around. I also had the stick placed on the desk which may have made it more difficult because of the height. Placing it lower probably would help with moving it around. Again that is all a matter of preference.

 I ended up using a CH fighter stick. Its well built. It feels like something that would be on a piece of industrial equipment. Its very accurate. Coming from the x52 the CH felt like a Swiss watch in accuracy. Another thing is after years of use you can actually take a CH stick apart order whatever part ya need and fix it.

As far as pedals I have to say I like the CH stuff. The Saitek felt flimsy to me. Im 6'2 at 265 so that probably doesnt help <G> But again the CH pedals are very sturdy and feel of "industrial" build. After a few years they lost theyre calibration. I called CH and ordered a new pot for it. They work like new again for under 20 bucks.

Silence tells me secretly everything.

This is the 3OO plus dollar stick that you can't fix yourself and they wont warranty even though I only had it a year. The only good Saitek is the pedals. The sticks are like paper towels no matter what they look like or what they are made of.
I paid 450$ ,7-8 years ago for CH fighterstick+pedals ; abused it bad, shake it, baptized it with coffee and beer and is still working ok.But now are way cheaper;
Look at prices;
-CH fighterstick 109$ on newegg.com  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826169102
- CHpedals 122$  http://www.ch products.com/retail/pedals.html
I wasted lots more $$ on  Microsoft,Logitech,chaging sticks every 2-3 months, but from my experience, this is  the most reliable gaming  package you can get for 230$.

I love my Warthog - it is by far the most precise stick I have ever used.  You won't be disappointed.
I have a set of Saitek rudder pedals that I use with it - works fine.

When you are running center stick with an extension its a whole lot easier to move

The whole setup is fixed around comfort and ergonomics. The seat is about to be changed to this:

The stick for me is between an x52 pro and the cougar hotas as far as tension in the spring. I like having to use some arm to move it though. doesn't feel like a toy that way.
Furry headrest is optional

Thats a cool set up ya have there James. I can see how that Warthog would be easier to move around the way you have it. Is that extension made of aluminum and did you make it yourself? I work in sheet metal fabrication and it caught my eye. The Warthog is on sale at Amazon. I am tempted to try it again but set it up center like you have it. Good job on the pit  :aok ...oh and nice co-pilot  :D

Its aluminum, got it from a guy named metlnwood on the simhq website. It allows you to offset the stick without modding it physically. I can take it off the stick and put it the stock way no problem. Worth every penny both the stick and the extension.

yeah thats my REO
