Need Urgent help with my R/C Nitro Buggy!!
« on: December 26, 2011, 10:11:28 PM »
Its running way to rich and the idle is extremely high, Leaning it doesn't help and will actually make it stall, if I can get it started the wheels crawl like they should really slowly until the engine warms up then they start spinning very fast, There's no one with experience with these in my family and my friends are of little help and can only do what I tell them to, I've sort of been left on my own.  Also the engine is making some very unpleasant sounds as in it sounds like metal is clanking against something and I'm to scared to restart it now because i'm afraid i've damaged the engine already. I didn't have this problem before with my last one so i'm really stumped.

When I start it up I heat the engine with a heater until it reaches the 115+ degree area and try to start it, i've also been told to drip a tiny bit of fuel on the air filter, so its not starting cold, the coldest its been today was when I ran it tonight when the temp was around 45, but again I heated the the whole engine. I might need to set the needle's back to default because i've been trying to get it to idle less and when I tried running it on Christmas my dad read the book wrong and told me to turn the master/highspeed needle 3 times counter clockwise, seeing it was wrong I screwed it in all the way and back out 3 today but its running way to rich, and again leaning it seems to have little effect, and I do change them in small 1/8th increments.

If you've lost me I took a video on the last tank I Ran (Tank 2) tonight and uploaded it hoping someone could help me, TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN THE CAMERA IS 3 FEET FROM THE ENGINE!

I thought you were going to ask how to put out a fire.

After 11pm isn't time for urgent rc buggy help. Just normal buggy help.

The best thing you can do is play with it a little. RC gas engines aren't rocket science and tinkering with a working engine to get it running just right shouldn't take too much time. Working engine assumes good compression, good plugs, good fuel and leaving the engine adjustments the only variables.

I got a extra hot plug, fuel is 2 days old off the shelf, compression is good since fuel primes in 3 pulls, engine adjustments however I messed with a bit, which I think is where all my problems are coming from, I was more concerned about the sound of the engine because it sounded like metal was slamming against metal, and it wasn't the piston making it i'm pretty sure

Knowing nothing about your particular setup:

Make sure the metal sound isn't something loose. Muffler, frame, body, etc.

Make sure you're using the right needles for the high/low power settings.

In short, play with the damn thing a bit. Not in a way that ticks off your neighbors or insurance fraud investigators though.

Its loud up close but at about 50 feet you can't hear it, you can't hear it inside if its running in the garage actually. I checked all the parts that were shaking, it seemed to be coming from the engine area but I couldn't find it, also the settings are messed up, its way to rich, after a few mins of run time it would leak quite a bit from the exhaust so i'm thinking half a turn to the leaner side would sorta fix it up

I have an OFNA buggy. I don't think they make the one I have anymore. It's not the Jammin X1X but looks very similar to it. It has a .26 engine on it, four wheel drive, great fun and drove the neighbors absolutely crazy  :devil

lol luckily I don't have neighbors until a house beside the one next to us, other 2 got forclosed on and haven't been up for sale, one has been like that for almost a year and a half  :O So I don't get to annoy anyone except my parents when I get frustrated. I got an Exceed madfire .28 Racing edition buggy http://www.nitrorcx.com/exrc1scnigas1.html Exact same one I had before

Go to your local hobby store, most of the time they can help. Iv seen employees take customer products in the parking lot an help them out.
