can't use mic in game
« on: December 29, 2011, 02:00:25 PM »
Bought new USB headset. Headset mic works in windows, but not in game. Changed settings in game to USB headset.
When I key to talk in game, nothing happens. The game  does not register that I am even keying in. I redid options key t and f12.
I have also went into the BIOS and turned off onboard sound. The headset mic did work with onboard sound on, but I was getting screen stutter. I was thinking that having onboard sound and USB headset with its own soundcard and software was a conflict and cause of the screen stutter.

Also since I redid my drivers for a new GPU 6950, now I am missing the uaa HD microsoft system file.(arrrrg) Is there any connection between the two, the UAA driver and not being able to key into the game? When I key in my name does not show up on screen of another players screen.

Also I do get sounds through the headset.

Any advice?

Cattb

modify: the file missing is the microsoft UAA bus driver system file that has to do with HD sound.

no, I have not tried my stick. I wonder if when I installed the hdmi drivers for the xfx 6950 if it somehow messed with the mircrosoft uaa driver. Guess I could reinstall aces high 1 option.

From the desktop if you right click on the speaker icon at the lower right and choose "recording devices" which device is selected as the default?

Goes to windows volume adjust or to adjust properties. The properties are now ties in with the software drivers from the USB headset. I don't have a recording device when I click the iconn bottom right by the task bar. I can access the windows recorder from programs/accesories/entertainment.

I found the microsft UAA file and put it in my system file, but when the computer wants to install the driver it will not take the file. Even if I use browse and point to it.

couple weeks ago I updated my realtek drivers for onboard HD sound, I didn't get this problem until the new GPU and headset.

Think I will try reinstall AH see if that fixes the mic problem.

I know I installed the xfx hdmi drivers and included was the uaa file, I think maybe it either removed or changed something. I am guessing.

Yes (xp3), I went into bios enabled the MB audio, my original platronics headset works in game. I guess I am dong something wrong with USB headset. Still missing the UAA file from drivers. Found the driver online , but would not install. Maybe I can install from xp OS cd. Thinking it maybe in the i386 folder. Ventrilo will still not work though with the platronics and MB audio which it did before.

I will work on it again later today.

I read through the article, don't think this is my problem, but I think there may be a fix in there or a lead to a fix. Either the  ATI or the realtek drivers did something to the UAA driver.

I just finished up making a bootable dvd with windows 7 64 bit and now have Win 7 64 bit installed on PC. I know that I would be making the tranisition sooner or later. I think I will start making that transition now, slowly and surely. Also keep trying to fix the xp OS I have.

Thanks for the help Chalenge I appreciate your effort to help.
