Roll Rate: N1k vs. F4U-1
« on: December 30, 2011, 07:40:52 AM »
Hello,

Various Internet sources list the real world N1k roll rate of 82°/sec at 386 km/h (240 mph).

1. What was the real world roll rate of the F4U-1?
2. In AH, is the roll rate of the N1k proportionally accurate against the F4U-1?

I always felt the F4U-1's roll rate is amazing quick while the N1k's kinda average.

Thanks for your feedback,

At 200mph the F4U-1 had a roll rate of ~84°/sec to the left according to this: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/f4u/f4u-1-02155.pdf

By all accounts, the F4U's rate of roll gets even better as speed increases.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
