Skyrim templates
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:12:48 AM »
Im going up to level 20 before spending a single perk. I do not have the stomach to re-roll the character again and re-do all those quests. So post your template...why you like it.. etc.  Give me some ideas :)

Currently have Heavy Armor, 2 Handed Swords, Blacksmithing & Sneak trained.

2 Handed swords rock for damage, and are fairly fast.  Once perked right, you can hit multiple targets with one swing.

Heavy Armor for the protection.  I don't use lackeys to follow me around, they just get in the way and make too much noise.  Once perked, it weighs nothing & makes no sound when you sneak.

Blacksmithing is always nice to be able to make weapons that'll either cost a fortune, or only run across off of random drops (I do some enchanting as well, but nothing perked)

Sneaking, Goes hand in hand with my 2 hand Sword and Heavy Armor...  Sneak right up behind someone and lop their head off before they even know what happened.

Smithing for the unique dragon and deadra armor.

1 handed because i like it.

2 handed because i like it.

Destruction magic because I like the power of fire in-game.

And archery for hunting. The zoom-in and slowdown for archery comes in handy alot.

I recently upgraded to a Legendary Ebony Greatsword with Fire enchant.  I goosfraba a giant and can have him down in a 3 hit combo before he gets back to his feet.

Make sure you create a new full save so you can go back to it again and again.

Also, if you're using the PC version you can re-spec your guy using the console.

Player.removeperk [perk code]
Player.addperk [perk code]

You can find the perk codes on the Interwebz, or use the console:

help "glass smithing" 4
help enchanting 4

Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0
Track IR, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals

Thanks I didn't know that. I did plan on saving the level 20 saved game and making a backup copy of it on some other folder just in case.

Overall I find myself mostly using sneak and alteration/illusion spells to move around and conjuration/1 handed to fight...but my flame atronach does the real fighting/tanking. I gave up on destruction magic as it does too little damage for too high a cost. I know perks improve this but when I see melee having so much damage output without a single perk it makes me wonder at the viability/survivability of a magic only character.

If I get in melee i'm dead. I just can't handle the insane movement speed and silly fast swing speed this game has. Sure wish it was more like mount and blade where the enemy would at least take a couple of seconds between swings and visibly prepare for a swing not this switchblade-slashing with 2h sword fast fighting.

So I find myself relying on muffle/sneak/stoneskin for movement and positioning and a combination of conjuration and either 1h or archery for combat. If there was a mod for thrown daggers as an alternative for archery id be all over it.

Archery and sneak  .why give someone the chance to defend themselves.  and one handed.  idiots walk right past to lydia just get  a 15x dagger = instant kill.          you can pull torchs off the wall and it increases your sneak ability.  It funny.  the animations are great lydia  got in the way a few times ..  i was like dang great animation then was wait a dang second i just killed lydia...    wish head shot gave extra damage

You can swing and recovery faster from regular, and enhanced power attacks with 2 handed weapons in light armor, than in heavy armor.

My original character was going to be a sneaky archer type, but five minutes in to the game, I cast a spell and immediately found it more interesting. What could be cooler than shooting fire from my hands? My character is now a level 19 or 20, I forgot exactly which it is. Anyways, I'm a Breton mage. I'm about 3/4 through the main quest and have finished the College of Winterhold quests so I have the Arch-Mage's Robes, as well as Morokei's mask. With all my level ups and enchanted gear, my magicka is upwards of 350 and regenerates at 225% of its orginal rate. My destruction spells cost much less as I've invested a great deal in that particular skill tree. Once you get the Impact perk, dual casting destruction becomes pure ownage as it staggers your enemy everytime. With the combination of the Dragonrend shout and Impact, you can keep a dragon on the ground and not let him get in one attack, while you slowly chip away at his health. I also use conjuration and restoration quite a bit, conjuration to tank damage and restoration to quickly heal myself (and for wards once in a while). I enchant a lot of things and use Alchemy quite a bit to keep my potion supply stocked. Once I finish the main quest, I'll settle down a little and try out some of the other schools of magic.
