I think that it would be really cool to get the LST for CV Ops. I know a lot of people would agree that to try and take a base on a far off shore with the only GV's that you can bring to bear are the LVT 2 and 4...Im sorry but all those HE rounds arent gonna do squat! How about LSTs being available from CV groups only (obviously) with the ability to carry the M4, Panzer, and T34??? I know that LSTs were primarily used by the Allies, but have to give the opportunity to guys that do not drive a certain Tank the chance to at least use one they are familiar with. Thoughts?

can only be used as a mission launch vechicle and subject to the same rules as a spawning lvt if so then +1

Yes prowl3r, and the only difference is that as soon as the LST reaches land and its cargo is rolled off it would basically reverse and drive itself back to the spawn point where it would disappear. You would have to spawn it in and drive it into the beach but it would be like the supply barges and trucks once you drive off it. I mean, maybe there can be set limitations for when it is not mission launched such as only so many can be launched at one time or maybe add to the CV Group a Rhino Ferry that disembarked the LSTs...this ship would be subject to attack like the rest of the Group...and any other additions or negatives would be appreciated.

Everybody, well most, want new Separate Invasion Fleets.. Cure for one of the ridiculous throwback elements of the game, (CV close off shore) So many possibilities in that development too.. I'm sure they will "get around to it" sometime, hopefully before I keel over dead.. :old: I am absolutely sure much thought has gone into that, because it is such a glaringly obvious solution to many gameplay issues..

Always wonder what form it will take..
I favor player controlled LCT carrying 6 Shermans each.. Over an AI LST, that's kinda lame.. And player Spawnable Destroyers for AA Protection and give Close Support fire on the Beach.. The fleet Having LSD's to realistically launch(spawn) various landing craft and vehicles, (swim out the stern doors).. Sink em, is like killin a VH.. Also Seaside bases and Ports could spawn them at PT spawns.. Historical precedent: Mac had is little mini Navy during the march up the New Guinea coast, all the way thru the retake of the PI.. Launching from one captured base to attack the next, with no major fleet units..
His personal "Shoestring Navy"..

IMO, all this would spark new LASTING interest, and liven up gameplay significantly :x..
Also dump some of the old Hokey stuff :bhead..

I would love to bomb me some LCT though.

Ok now, I did not say that the LSTs would be AI contolled until you disembarked your Tank from it on shore...and how would that work to have an LCT with 6 SHermans exactly, because I would love to bomb an LCT and get 5 free kills because there are 6 guys sitting in those Shermans waiting for the thing to beach. I get what your saying, but al the LST would be is and LVT Like vehicle you drive into the shore, but unstead of it rolling right onto land, it would be a tap of the secondary weapon button and your Tank would be disembarked...you would then take control of the Tanl as the AI took the LST back to the spawn.

Seems to me, that the LCT carries 6 inanimate ghost tanks, player(s) can jump in as they choose, but once they do, normal GV rules apply.. (You shouldn't get cheezy kills from trapped players, like a spawn camp weakling, but you should get extra points/perks for sinking the motherload of tanks).. So your teammates can jump in and start up, just before you drop the ramp..  LCT captain can reserve the last tank for himself.. When you roll the last tank out, poof the LCT disappears as a Landed Safely.. Really, an LCT in this game would be a 1 way trip.. So if you make it to the shore, and drop your ramp, swawn all your vehicles, you SHOULD get a safe landing.. The LCT had guns itself, so was capable of a bit of self defense, but would depend heavily on the DD escort coming in close to shore for cover.. AA defense, and drive the enemy tanks off the landing area.. (Historical precedent for that as well)..

Add some reasonable beach defenses, like auto MG nests, and soft gun bunkers w anti boat guns.. (AA guns in bunker)..
But that's another issue, lol!

I hope the HTC Navy Department is working on this.. :salute

I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up ,but why not use it as a floating VH for carrier groups or if we ever get other forms of battle groups we can have a sorta floating V-base. so instead of it being a mission lunch point it just acts as V-spawn when its close enough to the shore

Ahhhh, I see your idea..sounds good to me. I had said something about the Craft disappearing once its cargo was offloaded. And I really like the idea of MG Nests and possibly even 75mm Cannon in Concrete emplacements kinda like the SB but to defend the beach from said Armor landing on the beach! +1
