are there any Army Warrent Officers here?
« on: January 15, 2012, 07:24:05 AM »
Im really considering putting in a Warrent officer packet after this deployment. I've wanted to be a Military pilot ever since i was a kid. I've been checking out the offical WO recruting page, and i have been looking through the application proccess. And there is so much, and i dont even know half of what its asking. If any of you are WO's could you help me out?

I may be wrong but I thought that warrant officers flew rotary wing only.

A good friend of mine was a WO.  Flew Blackhawks.  You'll be in for some long days, but it's well worth it.  I'd say go for it.

Yea i was talking with my Platoon SGT yesterday, he said hes gonna help my throw a packet togather.

I'd be happy to fly any of those helicopters, but i really want to fly the Kiowa we use them alot out here when we are on missions, they are really small and can turn on a dime.

Not a warrant but am in an aviation bde. We do have warrants flying fixed wing but the majority is rotary wing. The Kiowa is in the process of being phased out by the Apache Longbow. Funny little known fact, the Ch-47 is our fastest. The CH-53 is mostly flown by the Marines and USAF. I have never seen a 53 owned by the army in my almost twenty years. In that time i have a total of six years in aviation units. I am commo though.

Edit: 160th may have the 53s, they have a lot of cool stuff the rest of us do not.

First thing you gotta do is take the FAST (Flight Aptitude Screening Test) :aok
If you fail that, then forget it. I took the Fast, passed it, but never followed through.
I didn't have the A.A. Degree at the time.
