Gliders
« on: January 16, 2012, 02:24:13 PM »
I know I must be a pain in the wish list section but some of my ideas are brill wot if we could also have gliders to stick on the back of goons so we can get 20 troops to a base rather than 10 htc could reduce speed of goon with glider by 50 per cent that would be fair , I do apolagise for not being on line for not being online in the game as I'm in Italy for a few days  :salute

Not a bad idea, essentially some sort of drone. And the glider could carry a jeep with 13 troops, which I believe is how it worked in WW2. Or an anti-tank gun. In any case, this merits some thought. I know some of the first questions from other board members will be about hard facts to back up the idea. My first question is about a glider cutting the speed of the C-47 in half. Is this accurate? I would put together half a dozen hard facts on how the glider was used, and impact, etc with sources and post those.

You might have a winner.

Well what I was thinking is that once the first 10 troops were deployed the glider would be disconnected and then the goon could either be bailed to take control of glider or the goon could be put on auto but that might not be fair as most goons are surplus to requirements once troops are deployed it could be once you bail goon the player takes control of glider automatically  :airplane:

It was called after me a Waco the speed of the c47 was reduced by 30 per cent and could carry a jeep as you rightly said it is up to the player to belly land the glider near town  :salute

Hitech has said many times if planes could carry more troops, he will just increase number needed to take base.   So in your case you bring 20 then 20 would be needed to take town.

... but just for the 2 kills in one pass when goon hunting

edit: presumably you'd only need to kill the towing plane to get both kills - bargain!

yes i think that would be more than fair , as it doubles chances of getting 10 troops to map room , the 30 per cent reduction in speed and not able to manovour the same would balance the sides . :old:

it doesnt double chances as the number of troops needed will increase to 20, since the map capture is tied to the max number of troops that can be carried.

sorry i dont understand what you mean , it must only mean that you have doubled your chances of being killed and doubled your chances of taking a base i dont understand why you have to keep saying it increases to 20 ??  ;)

C47's carried more than 10 troops in real life.  but hitech decided that only 10 troops would be needed to take the maproom so they limited the amount of troops that can be carried by one player to the amount of troops needed to take the maproom.  if you want to tow a glider with another 10 troops plus 10 for the goon then the amount of troops needed to take the town will increase to 20.  those are the rules of the game.

it doesnt get any simpler than that.  if you want to bring 20 troops to town then have a friend bring another goon.

you are new here so I'll let you in a little secret.  most if not all ideas/planes/ground vh's  have been proposed and discussed many times over.  every once in a while somebody will have an idea that is really unique and different. this one is not as it has been proposed many times before.
