MI-5
« on: January 16, 2012, 11:36:36 PM »
I've just recently discovered this series on PBS. Not too shabby. It reminds me of NCIS but without all the campy acting and more edgy storylines.
Anyone else a fan? :old:

I like it but at the same time I wonder if it's campier than I realize since it's from the UK and I'm an American.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

First 2-3 seasons are good, I enjoyed them.  (I watched through season 5 or maybe 6, it's been awhile, on Netlix.)

Then I think around season 4 or 5 they started to get heavy into anti-American BS every episode.  9/11 was our own fault, U.S. solders butcher Iraqi civilians for kicks and giggles, we're destroying the planet with out SUVs, the CIA tortures the poor tewworists, we trample every other countries sovereignty  blah..blah you know the same old tired anti-American rhetoric.   Maybe the British audience goes for that kind of stuff (I believe the show original title is "Spooks" in the UK) but it sure doesn't play with me.

Then to top it off, the one character who use to be bad-arse (Adam I think) suddenly turns into a whiny, skirt-chasing pansy between 2 seasons.  Then he got killed thank goodness (they kill off major characters all the time) but I was through with the series by then anyway.

I must have caught it early. The episodes I've seen are from 2002 - 03. It's not a "10", but it's definitely been interesting, so far.

I used to love "the Professionals" back in the late 70's. Sort of similar

MI-5 is OK, first few seasons better than the last few. Sandbaggers is way better if you're into the spy stuff, totally excellent.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

I enjoyed all nine seasons and look forward to the 10th being released onto netflix. Now I have to find something else while I work out on the nordic trac. They sure had a problem with USA. Hope they get over it. Was refreshing to see law enforcement that took care of business and didn't have to arrest everyone. Should send them to DC. \\

Going to watch waking the dead next.
