Help on videocard
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:53:51 AM »
As You remembered perhaps, I have an ATI Radeon X1650 512MB PCI-Express Video Card.

I discovered that my PC has another fee PCI-Express slot

Well, If You would improve (if possible) the pc performances with AH,
what can You put into the free PCI-Express slot?  (Toast apart     :lol  )

It seems that X1650 can do crossfire.

The definitive answer is... "maybe".   ;)

For starters, we need to know both make and model of 1.) motherboard  2.) CPU  3.) RAM

Definiately not another 6 years old card what was pretty much entry level when it came out.
Depends on your CPU, but if thats that old too, your machine is ready for a refresh...
A 150 bux PhenomIIx4/Intel i3 2100K + a 100 bux Ati HD-6770/Geforce 550Ti runs AH just fine.

That card is such a poor performer by today's standards that crossfiring it really wouldn't be worth the effort.  You might see a 15-20% gain in performance but even that I feel is optimistic.  By the time you buy the card and upgrade your power supply and but the bridge (if it doesn't come with it) you'll probably find it to be a lot more cost effective to just buy a more modern card.  For under $100 you should be able to find something that will run circles around even crossfired X1650s.

Of course this is all contingent on the rest of your hardware.  If you're running ancient hardware than even the best video card will still only do so much.

List all your hardware specs (including power supply) and how much money you want to spend.  Let's see what we can do here...
