I honestly dont see the point in modeling this plane. I predict after the first month is will be Queen of the hangar Queens.

Much rather of scene Iron Annie instead of a "spotting plane". Who is really going to bother spotting in Aces High? And arent there better options then an airplane with poorer then WW1 performance?

You are easily mistaken, with the BETA arena we see signs of changes in Aces High - Aircraft with bombs cannot see GV's until extremely close (600 yrds)

This puts Storch as a very high value in the game, at 3k you will need spotters to direct ground vehicles instead of someone flying 2k away and seeing the icon.

It might not garnish the kills per tour as a P-51D, but if you want to help friendly tankers defend a base - someone is going to be upping a storch.

It's not a game changer, but does change the overall strategy on taking a base. It will not stop a Horde or etc, however a small furball will see a storch to spot and give supplies out.

As a tanker, I see this as a plus in the game, it adds realism to the game.

When people are upping Torches... sry Storches there will definitely be people upping Wirbels as well. That will make the actual marking of ground targets with smoke a pure suicide. I also doubt there will not be too many people willing to circle around spotting targets for others to kill. I will be glad if I'm wrong though...

Thanks for sharing great pictures SirFrancis!  :aok

Yeah but you can see enemy tanks shooting from far higher, and your own tanks shooting back. Not that anyone is going to upp a storch anyways but wont they just end up wirbel bait, or fighter bait, anyways?

So now your telling me that planes without bombs will be able to see GVs from farther away? Gee thats real realistic. I didnt realize bombs had such an affect on eyesight. Are bombs really that big an issue at GV base fights? Except for Lancs carpet bombing the base? Lol, we have a hard enough time getting somebody to upp a GV to bring supplies out, how many you think will volunteer to be storch bait? To land, drop them off, and flutter off again?

Oh in the first month or two they will be buzzing around like Butterflies. After? I just hope theres empty space next to the Betty bomber.
And STILL no Soviet Level bomber!

Thanks for the pics, "SirFrancis".  :-)

I hope the originals are properly preserved somewhere.  That stuff is priceless.

If they actually made the fire rates realistic for the Wirble, this wouldn't be nearly as bad.... 4 20mm guns firing at cyclic rate...please. The only way the Wirble achieved sustainable fire was only firing two guns at a time, while the other two were reloaded. We model that, and the Storch will have better odds (not a whole lot, but still better) I believe.

If you pulled the trigger on Wirble all the guns did fire, even though you are correct that it could not continue to fire that way for long but it would require the other pair of guns to drop out early for magazine change or some kind of forced reload procedure to have all guns firing simultaneously, but I guess it is wise to spend only so much time in modeling such complex system and in turn it does not really give much in return as the people who go through trouble upping a Wirble would be unhappy and the turret rotation speed alone seems to be a sufficient handicap already.
