Nice Post 'The Fugitive' ! Those give-away deals are usually great.
I used to use the free version of Glarysoft's Ultilities. Tried the pro version but found no advantage over the free version and a few minor annoyances using the Pro.
I stopped using it completely when I came across IOBits Toolbox. Toolbox has a comparable registry cleaner, and a very nice uninstaller program that works just as good as 'Your Uninstaller', and better then the free version of 'Revo Uninstaller',(anythings better then the build-in windows uninstaller). The last time I checked the free version of Revo didn't do well with 64bit programs, whereas the Toolbox does. Toolbox also has a privacy cleaner, and a disk cleaner. These two I don't use that often. I do also use IOBit's Defrag program which I like just as much as I did Auslogic's Defrag, (another great freeware program - mostly...).
You can get the uninstaller as a separate program, but for some unknown reason, it doesn't see many 64bit programs, whereas the uninstaller bundled with 'Toolbox' sees all my 64bit software just fine. I haven't checked the stand-alone version in the last six months as I've been using 'Toolbox'. Maybe they've fixed that problem by now.
I don't use their anti-malware software at all. A While back IOBit got in big trouble for apparently stealing another anti-malware company's malware data base or something like that. Kinda-sorta makes me a little suspicious of the company, but so far I've had no problems with 'Toolbox', nor have I heard any more complaints online.
Don't get me wrong - Glarysoft makes an excellent product. I used them for a couple of years with no complaints. I've just come to lean more towards REAL 'FREEWARE' programs - not the so-called 'free' programs that have restricted or limited functionality. The term 'FREE' seems to have taken on a whole new meaning these days - mostly a negative one.
