Disappearing glass in the P-38G
« on: January 26, 2012, 12:12:13 AM »
Logged in tonight and found an odd little graphics bug.  Both the gun sight and the armored glass in the P-38G looked too dark, at first I thought maybe my gamma was off, but when I started the engines and moved my view both vanished.  Shutting off the engines brought it back, but as soon as I started them again everything vanished.  I took off and went looking for a fight, as soon as I dropped my DT's when I was engaged by a P-51 things returned to normal.

I did save the film if it would help.

*edit*

After I dropped tanks and things looked like they were back to normal firing the guns would cause the glass to disappear while the guns were firing when I let go of the trigger things returned to normal.

Sounds like the F6f bug they're looking at.

Here's some screenshots, hopefully better explain what I'm seeing.  When I brought the BMP's into GIMP some weird things happened, for the record other than the armored cockpit and gunsight glass everything else looked fine/normal in game, the other oddities are just in the screenshots.

Spawn to runway, before engine start up.

Immediately after engine start up.

As soon as the drop tanks are released everything is back to business as normal.

Until I fire the guns.

I don't know if the this helps or not but I did try spawning with the default skin as well as my normal custom skin. I also turned off the new bump mapping features, neither had any affect on what I was seeing.

With the F6F glass bug "bump map my plane or vehicle" turns it on or off.

You know in Star Wars the first from 1978 or so, when they are attacking the Death Star. They are in that canyon and about to shoot torpedoes and he pushes a button and had that glass drops over his eye. That plate seems like that to me. Aweful, almost claustrophobic

I tried the P-38G and  "bump map my plane or vehicle" turns the bug on or off.

That's interesting, I tried it with both bump mapping enabled and disabled and it didn't have any effect on what I was seeing.

I didn't get those blocky artifacts you have either. Maybe different video cards? I have an ATi 5970 with the 12.1 drivers.

The artifacts in the screen shots occurred when I brought the BMP files into GIMP, in game the only issue I see is the gunsight and armored glass.  I'm also running an ATI card as well, the model number escapes me at the moment 6900 series I believe.  I did update my drivers the other day to 12.1 in the hopes that would do the trick but didn't help.

Seems that it is tied to the F6F bug, I just took one up had the same issues.  I don't recall getting these bugs in the beta.
