Rudder Pedals, CH? Saitek?
« on: January 28, 2012, 10:05:13 AM »
Trying to research and wanted to know every ones input, I've gotten some use of the thrust masters duel throttle (secondary is used for rudder for now).
Its not to effective, but it works.

My saitek pedals have lasted almost 6 years. I don't wear shoes while playing though. Keeps them from getting messed up. Once a month I use a vaccuum on the sliders also.

I use CH Pro pedals. Some say the foot pads sit too close together but I haven't had any trouble with that. I'm 6'1" and 270 lbs with size 11 feet. They work well with out any problems and I have had them for years. I like that they are a small foot print and fit easily under my desk. I don't have to move them out of the way while doing other things on my computer.

There are 2 Saitek pedals available, if you have the money for god's sake get the Combat Pedals.  They are by far the best of the CH/Saitek pedals I've had, and even though they cost about 75% more, they are about 400% better.  Just the construction materials make them worth it IMO.

Saitek

there is a design fault with the CH pedals that nrshida and pervert documented with pics in our squad forum a while ago (too lazy to find the thread, sorry)

basically it's very easy for some of the internal wires to come loose and be severed by one of the pedals moving, rendering them completely useless
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

I found a set of saitek pro flight rudder pedals online, I searched for open box condition and got lucky.  Sold once, opened, returned and sold to me for $35 including shipping.

No regrets
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

WOW! I must be the lucky one. My CH pedals have worked for over 8 years with out an issue. They must have screwed up when they made mine!

Like anything made, it's possible to get a "lemon" however I believe that CH has an outstanding product that lasts a long time.

I agree, Every product has a lemon or two - I bought a set of Rigid power tools 3 years ago that had some pretty harsh reviews, people complaining about either being to loud or break's easy - I've done everything from drop the batteries in a septic tank, off a roof - and nothing has broken yet and everything works great.... plus the lifetime warranty is honored in every way that I had a damaged tool.

I only wish some of the joysticks and pedals had this kind of warranty, one reason I went with the Thrustmaster Warthog, it comes with a 3 year warranty and I bought a 3 year warranty on top of that for $50, giving me 6 years of security.

I guess it comes down to personal opinion, I had a Saitek Joystick and  found it to be complete garbage, this is my biggest concern going with its pedals, might be leaning more towards the CH Pedals.

Nope, was cutting PVC pipes to get the pump out of it (pump died) and the battery wasn't clicked into place - my fault but they were quite happy to exchange it.
