Error starting Aces High
« on: January 28, 2012, 11:42:09 AM »
I just installed the new version of the game but when I try to open it I get the message:

Initialization failed with -9
mainWLD_FAILED -1

Can anybody make anything of this?

If you saved the last download that you did you could use that one.

Only problem with that is as I said there. I didnt download the beta. therfore I couldnt possibly have had a conflict with it

redownloaded and installed the game and the entire thing locked up trying to connect online (didnt catch the error code as it was all I could do just to end the task and by that point I dint think to look a the details) Restarted and now I lost all my stick settings

The problem is the game cannot find its data resources.  Usually this is due to the executable being moved to a location out of the installation folder, such as accidently being dragged to the dekstop instead of creating a shortcut.

Seems to be working now.
Not sure what happened though. I know I personally didnt move anything but I cant say as that someone else in the house hasnt. So for all I know that might have been the case however unlikely.

What is odd though is the loss of my stick settings.
Managed to get those back too as I keep a copy of my settings in a completely unrelated file in a different partition.

question. Which file exactly are the settings supposed to be copied to? the settings folder or the "Stickdef" folder?
Didnt seem to work in either individually so I copied to both out of frustration and now its working.

I seem to remember a change made to where they needed to be saved to some time back.  But dont remember what that change was.
Maybe a sticky on saving/copying stick and throttle settings?

Any event. For the moment I am up and running.
Great job from what I've seen so far <S>

I thought we had fixed that, but if you ALT-F4 out of the game, while the "Map Controllers" panel is up, you will lose your stick settings.

Just FYI.  We have never changed the name of the executable.  If it was changed, then it was changed on your computer.  If you did not do it, then you might want to look further into what is running on your system.

As far as patches go, we do that.  Not sure of any other way to update the game.

Dunno what happend. but I havent had any more problems so far.
Now its just a matter of finding what setting work best for me. Getting an occasional ssslllooowwwdddoooowwwnn sometimes in an environment when theres alot of planes around. Last a few seconds then clears up.
Was really interesting saddling up on someones 6 the other night then suddenly trying to shoot at them at like 10FPS. I did get the kill though. It was something out of the Matrix. LMAO

I'll get it figured out. Matter of adjusting the game settings and how much I am going to bump the machine up.
