auto takeoff
« on: January 29, 2012, 03:05:30 PM »

Sometimes I like to sit on the tarmac without my engine starting and auto takeoff on, so that when I'm ready to start up the prop doesn't snap around to the starting position. This can be done by hitting E just before you spawn, or turning the engine off and then hitting E twice lightning fast. I have a button on my throttle for engine start/stop, so what I do is hit E and the button at the same time, works like a charm.

Don't you have to throttle up and actually start rolling for the auto-takeoff to actually takeoff?  I wouldn't know, since I've never used it. Other than that, why would the wish be to not have the engine running if you have auto-takeoff enabled?  :headscratch:

I figured that it would be obvious by some but apparently is isnt which I guess I should have explained the reasons why in the OP. For example, if a base is under attack, those who use the auto take off roll down the runway b4 i can get my engine fully started. Does anyone know if they load to the runway faster? And another reason, would it not add a little realism to new players on the 2 week freebie?

That's just lag. Try auto takeoff yourself once, you'll see that the engine still has to start from zero RPM.
