FPS Drop when clipboard is open.
« on: January 30, 2012, 05:21:11 PM »
I just noticed about a 5 - 10 FPS drop when the clipboard map is up while I am flying or driving.  4 others who were not running the test version said same.  I have never noticed it before.  But I almost always have the clipboard up in my lower right corner when playing.

I always take a slight performance hit as well while the clipboard is open.  I figure it's due to the additional processing it takes to update the map on the clipboard.  I wouldn't be too concerned over it.

Yes, this is normal and I believe it has always been that way. Your frame rate problem will be much less if you are zoomed in to a small area of the map. If your clipboard map is zoomed way out to represent the entire arena, your framerate will suffer a lot more.

I suspect that Hitech has spent a lot of his time and talent optimizing the cockpit views for high framerates, but [naturally] the clipboard is considered to be a more "static" tool and has therefore not had that kind of expensive attention. This small framerate impact is exactly what we should expect.

FPS has always dropped with the clip board up, it also depends on what page you are looking at, and what you have icons you have on or off on the map.
