Update...

F7F Tigercat
F8F Bearcat
P-51H Mustang
F2G2 Super Corsair
Seafury
Spit Mark XXI
Fw-190D-13
Do-335 Arrow
Yak3U
La-9/11
Hornet/Seahornet

Any more to add?

The Hornet/Seahornet is essentially a follow up to the Mossy. Likely a great bird but...

My quick rundown is the German birds fall to the wayside. The Dora13 is very slightly improved over the Dora9. Arrow, great model but only fast. Not certain of BnZ ability at all, no indication on turning.

If the remaining birds I have heard the Yak3U (?) BnZ'd like a PonyD, turned like a Spit? If so it moves up towards the top. Spit XXI is great in theory but is it nothing more then a heavier, souped up Spit14; fast but not fast enough, compresses too easily losing fine touch control and too heavy to turn like other Spits? If so, I leave it second tiered. The Super Corsair sounds great but other then a bigger engine and better visability...and the lone Corsair driver gives the earlier 4hog better props.

That leaves the...
F7F
F8F
P-51H
Seafury
Yak3U
La-9/11

F7F
F8F
P-51H
Seafury
Yak3U
La-9/11

Of these birds I would give the edge to the P-51H and possibly the Yak3U above 20k. We already know how the PonyD does above 20k. A lighter, faster bird with greater control surfaces should only do better. If the Yak3U performs like a cross of best aspects between a PonyD and Spit it should do well above 20K. Any indication the La-9/11 has anything above 10K, let alone 20K? The Seafury is a slimmed down Tempest. Maybe it has some skills above 20K though my guess is its primarily a below 10K hero, just a guess.

As for below 20K, my sense is the F8F is king of the hill. Incredible climb rate, rolls with the best, lighter and should out turn any of them. It is weak on fire power with only 4x.50cals but good enough in well trained hands. Maybe this is where the Yak3U and La-9/11 shine. With the PonyH, I have great confidence in its abilities below 20K. The PonyD is more then ample, can only imagine a more nimble version with much better climb rate.

Boo

la9 info... make of it what you will... i'd give this an edge over the la11 after looking over the specs (taken with the customary grain of salt)

ditto for la11 (escort version for their strategic bombers)... longer range, atthe expense of some speed.

The Super Corsair sounds great but other then a bigger engine and better visability...and the lone Corsair driver gives the earlier 4hog better props.

So why still include the F2G on the list? It was actually slower at altitude than the -4B/C by ~15mph, and was less-heavily armed (4x.50cal on the F2G-1/2 vs. 4x20mm on the F4U-4B/C). The F2G certainly had an IMPRESSIVE rate of climb (nearly 5500ft/min!) But in almost every other aspect the -4 was superior. It was only after racers got hold of her that she started to shine, but considering those are hardly military specs they wouldn't exactly count.

You also have the F4U-5, which clocked in at nearly 470mph at altitude.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
