I'd be almost willing to bet that when he does post his dxdiag that we see he is.running an AMD system. Just guessing.

It's 5:3 Intel:AMD so far, so I dunno. I don't think CPU architecture would have much effect on VRAM, though, assuming the video stutters and out-of-VRAM issues are connected.

I've got a semi related question.  I get constant micro stutters on some maps.  But I never get out of VidMem errors even though, if I select bump map bldgs and vehicles, it sometimes gives Used values way above what the Video card actually has.  Example CTRL-I reading: VidMem 512M Used 620M.  (I get the micro stutters even if I disable the new features, i.e. grass and bump mapped objects.)

Nope, just the first page is all you need.

That is an old computer. Maybe not "old", but it's on the low end of the performance scale. I retired mine like that 2 years ago and I was turning down eye candy back then. With todays game you need even more ummph.

My suggestions are first clean out your computer. Get the processes running down under 20 (hit control, alt, delete. when that window opens click on the processes tab at the top. In the lower left it will tell you how many you have running) BlackViper has a site on how/what to turn off to stream line your computer and get that number down. Next, turn down everything in the game, texture size and eye candy. Load the game and test. If FR are up start adding stuff until you see a drop in FR. The biggest hogs are the ground clutter and shadows.

System only couple years old. Funny thing is I went over what I wanted to build with Skuzzy when I bought the parts and discussed processor (Wolfdale E8400. Vid card etc. Then again"Old" in tech is like yesterday. I've been using Black Viper for a lonnng time. I also use end it all.

I have a profile I use when playing AH so my process are minimal when I run it for AH.

I thank you very much as your info is right on.

But I really think that there is more than meets the eye ...candy

I have the same setting as always.. all detail and distance full, Shadow's and bump mapping on . 1024 textures and never ever an issue. always 75 FPS.

After the latest patch things have changed. Looking around causes serious frame rate drop and sitting in the tower is down to 14. Once Airborne (Hooya) things are still shaky. Still have ground clutter off and didn't change a thing any where else and frame have taken a serious hit.

I am going to turn down AA and see if I get a change

If I've been playing for nearly a decade on the same box and only just got nudged over with a problem lots of people are having, one would think a machine with only a couple years under its belt should work fine, especially when properly optimized.

It's pretty obvious a bug exists here, the problem is finding out where it's hiding. Even if everybody upgraded their computers to get over the issue, it'd still be there.

It should OOZ. The whole point of the way HTC is doing this is to give users the ability to selectively turn off graphics options. If you had never moved anything from before the new additions came in then your system should be performing the same. That said... the stutter issues are affecting systems with the new options off.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

My PC is about 7 years old, dual core pentium, GEforce 7300 Video card. Not the best but has served me well.
After the Patch I could not play the game. I was frustrated, I didn't have money to throw at the hobby, it must be HTC's Fault!  :furious
                                                        .......takes a few deep breaths........

Read the Tips on PC settings....42 processes running....got it down to 29 (not sure what else to turn off)
Found new driver for Vid card...installed from Nvidia site, cool
Ran Disk clean up, had too much clutter, 1.3 GB wow must have forgot Maintenence?
                                          Defrag disk, (just in case)
Start game, It's Alive! I can fly again on my old box.  :airplane: Frame rate at 33 avg just like before and turn off detailed terrain and water it will jump to 50.
It's more important than ever that the older PC's need to be running at peak performance. The margin for error has shrunk. Sorry HTC if your ears were ringing.  :D
