disco since patch 2/bumpmap
« on: February 01, 2012, 11:29:25 PM »
I was not having any problems whatsoever with new version and patch 1. As soon as I installed patch 2 started having disco issues.

Offline is no problem.
Dueling arena  mild problem.
EW/MW/LW major problem disco every time within 5 minutes.
Cable ISP says everything looks good.
Frame rates stay steady at about 75.

settings prior to patch 2

It's seems if I turn off my plane bump map I do better.

Are you running with any anti-aliasing enabled?

The 9600GT is at, or near, the bottom of the performance ladder as it pertains to running with bump mapping enabled.

I have logged into late war and dueling arena 2 times each this AM and have discoed each time within 4 minutes. This is just sitting in the tower.
Just to clarify I had no problems until patch 2 and game does not crash offline.

login screen

nvidia screen please advise how I should have the AA set.

turned off all the AA in nvidia, still discoing

May want to consider a later driver.  I just noticed you are using a pretty old one and while I do not advocate using later drivers for older cards, Vista drivers had so many problems (early on particularly) that it is difficult to know where the issues will lie.

Seems most people, using Vista, are having troubles with the update.

I just noticed you forced anistropic filtering.  Consider setting it to application control.

Ok, did you run a traceroute/Ping Plot to 206.16.60.38 and see if there is any packet loss on the connection?

I think I found the cause of my problem. If I turn my Mcafee firewall off I stay connected, so far anyhow. It's weird because before patch 2 I never had to do that. I just cut it off for 30 minutes and when it automatically came back on I discoed.

Is there any danger of running the game with it off?

Is this something that can be fixed in a patch?

Will monitor and report back. Thanks for help Skuzzy.

Ok, I wish I knew that.

McAfee and/or Norton are ABSOLUTELY going to cause stability problems with the game.

That is the nature of it all.  It is all about data patterns.  The games patterns change with every release, thus eventually the odds are that Norton/McAfee are going to destroy the game some time.  It is just a matter of time and you can count on it.

I see said the blind man!

You know I had a problem with mcaffee screwing up you tube videos ( would only play about 45 seconds) due to a feature called net guard which was disabled as soon as I figured out the problem.
