The VF-17 Jolly Rogers are recruiting pilots interested in US Naval Aviation.
New pilots and vets equally welcomed.
We do ask you be 18 years of age and have an account with HTC.
You are also required to have a sense of humor when joining

Squad Nights

Corsair training : Monday, 10:00pm Est

FSO Training :Thursday, 10:00 pm Est

FSO: Friday, 11:00 pm Est

Our primary focus aircraft is the F4U and it's variants, primarily the 1a. But we are happy to fly any US navy Iron. We train a lot in this squad, so if you are looking to up your game, love blue planes, and like to work as a team, we might be right for you.

We are also an active FSO squad, so being able to participate in FSO on a regular basis is required. We know things come up in real life, so we don't expect everyone to make every frame, but expect you to make it when you can.

New recruits, will probably be spending a lot of time with me to determine weaknesses in merge tactics and plane handling. We hold our F4U flying to high standards, and I'll do my best to bring you up to speed quickly.

Big Rats once of the nicest players I've ever met and a very good trainer, if your desire to fly a Corsair then Big Rat is who you want to learn from.

Being in VF-17 has been a 100% positive experience for me. We all take our flying seriously but we don't take eachother too seriously. We follow chain of command but you can still tell the XO to go to combat spread because he smells like a wet dog. The rule about sense of humor doesn't mean you have to be funny (myself, for example, but I try ) but you do have to be able to take a joke. I don't know what the SOP for dealing with someone getting bent out of shape over something is because it just doesn't happen.

The training nights are awesome, and more reliably fun than FSO. Fly hard and keep flying hard until your plane breaks or you run out of gas, then do it again. Every Monday and Thursday is a blast, FSO can be hit or miss, but it's what we train for.

Still have one spot open.  If you are a hog fan, and you want to learn it to the best of your abilities, this is the place.  We can take you from our newly setup ground school with Seighin, all the way to the more advanced offensive and defensive techniques with me, and everything in between.  How good you want to be, will depend only on your desire to learn.
