Plane Crash in My Neighborhood *UPDATED*
« on: February 05, 2012, 11:58:08 AM »
Well. I missed seeing it by 15min. It crashed 1 block from my house. Here's the scoop. looks like the pilot had just taken off, lost engine power banked left over our neighborhood. he tried to land down a street called Rudyduck drive. he tried to avoid a street light, clipped a tree with his left wing. That inverted him, you can see by the pics where he impacted the driveway inverted. the left wing hit the white truck and tree, then they slid into a house inverted and punched through the house. The pilot and front passenger got out in the house and came out through the front door of the house. Only scratches and bruises on the three people. all walked away.

Heres his approch, notice the tops of the trees

looks like it was one of theses:

Heres the plane on a google search My Girlfriend said "just Google it'   LMAO :rofl

Can you imagine the homeowner's call to his Insurance adjuster in the morning, " Hello can I speak to FLO from progressive she is not going to believe this one" :O
You dragged the dead horse into the yard and handed out the bats, sir.

Very lucky folks there. Heck of a crash but stuff can be fixed or replaced.

This probably an easy claim to verify. The insurance company would only have to google it for documation. :lol

Cool turbo arrow. Nice bird, hope it wasnt an engine failure. The TSIO 360 has been under the microscope for awhile now.

I talked to the FAA guy on site and he said that it was an engine failure ... Plus its rare but he was taking off the opposite of the normal due to a wind shift yesterday. Otherwise he would have had all kinds of open space and fields to land in. This direction took him right over housing as you all see.

Did the turbocharger separate from the engine?

I also suppose an engine failure is about the only thing that would cause someone to put it down in a neighborhood, so that was a stupid thing for me to say. lol

Since no-one was hurt, I think these are very much appropriate.

  • Landing, you're doing it wrong.
  • My house used to be nice, but then it took an airplane to the knee.
  • That'll buff right out.

But in all seriousness, that airplane must have been very well built if it could survive all that!
