Shoreline
« on: February 06, 2012, 05:52:56 PM »
I wish I could see the shoreline on my crappy laptop.  By shoreline, I mean the point where the water starts/stops, which isn't possible unless you shoot it and look for a splash.

:aok Same here, but i would like to add to it if i may.

I wish some of the spawn points wouldn't spawn you into the water or right next to water. With the current setup it really sucks if you have low end graphics

Turn on detailed water only for driving along the shore. It's not really that much of a resource hog and if your frame rates drop too much it shuts off automatically.

Plan B: Drive by Sign Language. Let your co-ax mg lead the way. Don't drive towards the splashes.

If I turn on detailed water my framerate drops to slide show level.
As for plan B I mentioned that in my post already

Take a look at my sample pictures and corresponding settings. Try detailed terrain + bump map terrain.

Detailed water on is the only solution.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Really? Have you tried just "Detailed Terrain"? (or seen my samples a couple of posts up)? To me, it looks pretty easy to see what's "water" and what's "land" without having "Detailed Water" enabled.

You can turn on detailed water without turning on detailed terrain. Detailed terrain was always the processor hog for me.
