Condor Aerial Looking for UAV Pilots
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:23:01 AM »
Some of you guys know me on here as I have been a member for quite sometime. I am a sponsored RC pilot for several manufactures and I also own a company called Condor Aerial. We have deployed a new aircraft that is used for Law Enforcement, Search & Rescue, Real Estate, Breaking News, and a host of other applications.

It is a fully autonomous aircraft and with an hour of flight training anyone on the planet can operate them. All you have to do is move the stick in the direction you want it to go. Once it arrives at its destination you flip a switch and it’s on GPS lock so it will hover automatically while you use the sliders on each side of the radio to operate the camera.

Everything is filmed in 1080P. We us a special goggle that uses a monocle in one eyepiece that allows you to see what the camera is viewing so you can accurately fly and film events.

I spoke with Hitec prior to posting this as my thinking is everyone here has better than average hand eye coordination. We are expanding our business into other states and I am looking for interested parties that would either like to manage a state territory as well as clients who wish to use a Condor unit for individual use.

We are not selling anything but I think it is only fair to let you know that our business model (if you want to own your own state) will require you to purchase your own equipment (at our cost) if you want to lease equipment to your local, state, and federal agencies. We are also looking for pilots that want to fly for hire for the state operators.

Check out or website at www.CondorAerial.com and make sure you view the videos and the licensing tabs.

My contact information is listed in the licensing information.

Yeah, I have seen their aircraft before. They have some pretty cool technology. Congrats on your certification. This business is too much fun.

But crime is down dramatically.  Why do we need so much surveillance in the US?

Anyhow,  cool stuff brother.

Those guys have way too much brain matter in their cerebral cortex. Very cool how they have those little worker drones all flying to accomplish a single task. Way out of my league.

Hmmm...  I've been flying R/C aircraft since about 1986...  I'm already self employed and have more free time then most folks...  And I am already a professional photographer...  This might be interesting.

I think your going to need more altitude and better zoom for LE use. At least for drug survellience where it would really shine. Best thing about this unt is the knuckleheads are always changing up corners and with a unit like this they can be watched more effectively.

I just went back to school for uav's getting private pilot first. Have opportunity to work for govt contractor as pilot/instructor.

I was told uav's can't fly in FAA regulated air space yet. Once they change the legalities, ( part of it is requiring all uav pilots to have FAA pilot cert ).

I will check it out.

Thanks for the post.

Here is what we know about FAA involvement. The FAA wants everyone (UAV Pilots) to have a COA (certificate of airworthiness) and over the last 10 years have only approved 15.

First off, we are not a UAV. We don’t fly way points, we only fly line of sight. The second reg the FAA wants to enforce is regulating commercial use meaning you can’t fly for hire but you can fly for free anytime you want to.

This is not a law, it’s an advisory but with that being said, the FAA is expected to put a program together by June of this year. Basicaly it is supposed to regulate all UAVs over 25 pounds. Our aircraft are 10 lbs.

With the continued usage of light (line of sight) UAVs there hasn’t been a single incident involving the FAA to date. Not that this has any meaning other than we are more looked at as an RC aircraft.

If we follow the advisory only we would lease aircraft to agencies for their own usage.

To help us maintain an open door with the FAA and State, Local, and Federal authorities we have an Executive VP Government liaison with the following credentials.

He retired from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division as Deputy to the Assistant Director for Investigations.
He created the South Carolina Computer Crime Center and currently is the Manager of Corporate Security for the SCANA Corporation, a Fortune 500 Utility Company.
He is a graduate of the 216th Session of the FBI National Academy,
The United States Secret Service Dignitary Protection School
and the Naval Post Graduate School Executive Leadership Program for Homeland Security
He is also currently an advisor to the Justice Department.

This should keep our political and legal feet grounded with some credibility to deploy our systems within the guidelines currently available and far within the future protocals.

all kidding aside, it is pretty cool.  I see the giant footprint our large uav has at work (folks would be surprised how many people it takes to fly a single uav), and I am definitely on the smaller/less people the better side of things.
