Colors of specific guns
« on: February 08, 2012, 05:25:01 PM »
Would it be possible to color the specific guns in the hanger to match the color on the convergance ranges.

Example on the on the P47D25 u have 4 gunpackages, if  u select the lighter 8 .50cal package, the individual gun is colord white, blue, green, gold. For a 190A8, u select the 2 30mm and the 2 20mm package, the MGs are highlighted white, the 20s green and the 30s blue.

IMO this would help newer players who are not familiar with every planes gun/cannon set up, also some planes are a little confusing, 110s and the mossy to name a couple.

edit: ahhhh got it. Labelling the guns in the convergence page might be easier.

confused  :headscratch: our converg system works fine for me..  perhaps a diagram at the bottom of the hanger to decode the colors would best help.

Example in the mossy: White for 303s and Blue for 20mms.

I don't quite understand what you are asking, most planes like the P51 or F4u shouldn't need a color coding system, only certain aircraft.

what would be nice, if this was added that is, is if the tracers for each gun were colored in accordance with the color denoted in the convergence hanger. this would go a long ways towards helping people learn the trajectory of the different guns and cannons. this would aid then in learning when to fire and which guns will or wont hit at what ranges and angles.

Now go on to another aircraft and you will see that the colors are not standardized.   ;)  I made a post about this very subject maybe a year ago and it didnt go anywhere.  About the same time I suggested that the gunner positions on bombers be standardized as well.  2 is always rear. 3 is always top.  4 is always belly.  5 is always nose, 6 left, 7 right, etc etc.

This should only happen with tracers in the TA. Leave them in the other arenas as they are.

Or color the tracers to what were used historically (IE, Japanese used blue for some guns, IIRC).
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I think that is exactly what he means Butcher, like with the Jugs for example-

Obviously they are all .50s, but the 4 dif colors that match the guns are easy to see on the Jug and what guns they belong to. I think more for the AC with multiple guns such as the 110, Mossy, etc so like you said, you know that your setting the .303s out to 300 or so for max effectiveness and the Spanos a little farther out and so forth. I like it +1
