01G-P3-1556-KR  Requirements:  Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.  (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amps.)

Shouldn't be a PSU issue, as this is light on the juice.    If you are running 32-bit OS, the 1 GB can possibly become a factor.   It will be a better card in terms of cooling and a little bit higher FPS.    The RAM on the 550 is DDR5, as opposed to DDR3 as well.

Beleive it or not. Other then some very slight adjusting to get it up to advertised speeds I really havent done much to it and isnt that far away from running everything at max settings. But I am thinking its time for the 1 gig card

I still run an E8400 Wolfdale, recently RMA'd my G92 8800GTS KO and received a GTS 250 in return.   It is quieter, cooler and nicer than my previous card.   I have the same PSU as you.    I don't overclock anything and play World of Tanks at 1920x1080 on HDMI and can handle the highest settings with ease.   

I just have completed my fan swaps on my NZXT Tempest and my case is colder and quieter.

Fronts (120's) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185058 - These fans are quiet and made a slight improvement, but I was hamstrung by the stock NZXT top fans.   When my Video Card went tits up, the bearing on the back one locked up and rattled something fierce.   

Tops (140's) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242011 - Look at the DB's and CFM's on this fan.        The Scythe's are quiet, but these are even quieter and move more air.

I might go with the Scythe match on the Rear, but I would love to try and get another Prolimatech out back.    I'll replace the rear exhaust and side window fan as they go tits up.   

If you have a Tempest, I cannot recommend what I did enough.   You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Waaaaay overkill. If youre only playing AH, a HD6850 must be more than enough. My Hd-5830 runs everything maxed out (except the sadows, they are at 4096), everything turned on, with a steady 60 fps. My cpu is an AMD Phenom2x2 flashed to quad core, 3.2 GHz, so not nearly as good.
The Hd-6800-6900 series gonna be dirt cheap in no time. Same effect, 350 more bux in your pocket.

If youre playing other, very demanding games, the 7970 is still very expensive, even tho its lightening fast. I would wait til the new Nvidia comes out and pushes down the prices. But your deal.

I agree with the other posts, that the 7970 is likely to be overkill.  My computer is almost two years old, but still cranks out good FPS numbers with nearly all the eye-candy turned on.  (I run a first generation quad-core Intel i7 that is moderately overclocked from 2.8 up to 3.4 GHz, and an AMD 5850 video card.)

If you are considering a triple screen setup, the 6970 or 7970 would be a good bet.  I am looking to lay my hands on a 7970 soon.  I need it for other things than Aces High (cant really play the game at home anyway, no room for a joystick).
