well I know a 7970 is super expensive, but considering the card specs I think it got value and won't be obsolete anytime soon. While a 6XXX will be much faster than my 5770, the cards have only a generation difference...

also When I will upgrade from this PII X4 965, the 7970 will hopefully still be an ok card...

Skuzzy on his part will probably be using it for useful stuff like calculations, unlike us mortals who play games  :old: I know the answer would be too complicate for me to comprehend, but aren't nvidia cards better with their CUDA stuff?

Dred, are you still using XP Pro 32 bit?  If so that 1 Gb card's going to knock your RAM down to about 2.25-2.5 Gb usable.  Unless you're planning on a 64 bit OS upgrade you'de be better off finding a faster 512 card if they even exist anymore.

Yup. Still on XP 32
Still been working fine for me so I figured why change.

After checking on passmark.com I choose a i5 sandybridge quadcore and a radeon hd 6850 graphics card. Runs a steady 59fps with all settings maxed out.

I bought a xfx 6950 2 gig card, more card than game. I went from a 8800gt. Figure I won't need upgrade (video card) for 4 or more years I hope.
