Hd-7700 series
« on: February 15, 2012, 01:53:18 PM »
Was looking around the net for a new, cheap but not as weak video card for my brothers computer, and bumped into theese.
Guess, was kinda surprised when i seen the tests: not much, if any faster then the 3 years old HD-5770. Yet, 3 years ago the 5770 was 24K Huf, yet the 7770 is around 50K Huf... I know our money isnt very good (cough), but still, weird stuff. AMD is selling GPUs what are very close in knowledge for the same price since the old 4870... Just expected a little bit more in 4 years.

Guessing i have to wait more...

The 7700 doesn't require it's own power supply and supposedly only needs 75w to power it.  For a mid-range priced card, it's not bad.

True, its performance/power consumption ratio is quite good, theres no problem with it. Just said, its quite weak for its price. It should be either a lower-mid class card with a better price or a more powerful mid-range one.

The 7700 is priced at $159, which is pretty good for a mid-range budget card with the 7750 priced at $109.  I was incorrect about the power needed for the 7700.  The power for the 7700 is 100w, so it will need its own power supply, however, the 7750 is 75w so it won't need its own power supply.
