I want the manouver kills back!
« on: February 23, 2000, 02:51:00 AM »
I've been flying a high speed run through bishop airspace yesterday in my F4U and managed to down a B26 before i flew in to a litterally CLOUD of fighters.. i dropped low and made a run for home staying under dar.. a very eager Pony driver hunted me all the way back to F9 (he had a hard time seeing me thou  )

When i had to pop up to climb up the F9 hill he clsoed for the kill and i turned for the merge .. a rolling scissors evolved down low and slow and he flew into the ground .. and surprise:

NO Kill message ..

I want my Manouver kills back !
(not that i get them too foten LOL)

maneuver kills are still here
a couple of nights ago I was flying a gooney bird from 22 to 4.  After successfully avoiding 2 La5's and a 205 just east of 7 a spit appears out of nowhere about 4500yds off.  To make a long story short, I was looking back too much and not forward enough and ended up buyin the farm when he was still about 1800yds out.  Then I see Victory 1 by XXXXX, XXXXX shot you down.

"SYSTEM" seems confused to me.  Sometimes "SYSTEM" awards the kill.. but often "SYSTEM" just plan screws yer pooch and leaves the pilot with nothin after working an adversary into the dirt.

And frankly; that sucks.

Duckwing, what most likely happened was that someone had pinged the bad guy that was chasing you.  Therefore when the bandit augered and died, someone else on your team was awarded the kill

Duck I have had the same thing happen to me.
Took off grabbed a k or 2 of alt and a spit jumped me.. I split and rolled and the spit dove and compressed as a lawn dart. No kill awarded.  I thought they had taken it out or modified it.  Such a nice dodge and made him lawn dart no kill

Next time this happens, try to either film it  or note what distance they were when they augered, I sure that the distance from the auger will determine whether you get the kill or not.

Had a 205 auger into the ground turning with me at F4 last night. I looked but no kill.

I don't get many kills, so these are important to me.

Today flying from f1 to f4 ( rook held f4) I met a 205(cavemanJ) and a N1k (towd). I was bracketed by them.  I evaded both initial passes but the N1K was hot on my 6.  I dove into a spiral killing the throttle and spiraling. The N1k came in fast and next thing I see is smoke as he made contact. As I pulled up thinking PHEW! and looking for the N1k I see a victory by the b26 that was 4k away below us.  The credit for the manuever kill was given to him.  The B26 immediately yelled on 1 that it wasn't him and let TOWD know it was me.  Was the kill given to the closest plane when he bailed?
What is the criteria for a manuever kill?

This is a strange phenomenon. I flew a sortie today where I was flying thru a furball and didnt perform any ACM to speak of and got three kills without even firing my guns. Two of the kills I didnt even see and the third was a ho 3d away from me. My countryman was the first to bail so the rook got the kill, when he bailed I got the kill???
I dont what the answer is but when two pilots destroy each other a kill sould not be awarded to a 3rd who is on a leisurely jaunt accross the countryside.
