no thanks, there is a couple flyin coffins that I'd like to have before this one. The idea with the defiant was to kill enemy fighters with the upper back turret...the idea turned out to be not so good, resulting in the loss of most the defiants and their crew.

true but it would be fun to go up with a gunner in that thing, it's a death trap but good for a bit of fun. DWMW

i been doing i bit of research and i found they were not as effective as the brits thought  but i have found that they did have kills quite a few but not many plus they were annoying to the enemy bombers as they could weave into a formation and because of the rear gunner it damage the bomber before meeting a sticky end with a fighter but this is just what i read

WOW!!! could you imagine how effective these would have been had they been armed with a pair of Hispano's in the turret and at least a couple of 50's in the wings for anti-ho defence??????

i was talking about facing 999 while he was flying one of these instead of his damnedable bomber formation with the lazers!!!!!

While the Defiant is indeed an interesting historical footnote, I think that you'll find nearly everybody who writes about WWII labels it a resounding failure as a warplane.  (Granted, it did have a few good moments as a target tug.)  Personally, I think Aces High will be more fun if it concentrates on the planes that were successful.

no i think the crap planes and successful planes should be added. besides though they might have been unsuccessful in the war, but in our hands it could be useful and defiantly fun.

read up on those poor guys who were sent up in daylight during the Battle of Britain.  They got slaughtered in only a couple of flights before having to be withdrawn from action.  No forward guns, and all that extra weight for the turret and gunner.  What were they thinking?
