Damaged or pilot wounded....lose your map

I had this happen a couple times in FSO due to some kind of bug. I could not bring up my map no matter what I did. It made the attempted return to base very hard, with a high pucker factor. Found it pretty challenging and fun also.

I made a post a while back the first time it happened.

But no what happens is my map key sent me to the desktop. I could get back still in flight, but could not use my keys at all. I could hear vox but could not type or transmit. Every key was dead except the key for the map, that one sent you out of the game.  It has not happened again for 2-3 months.

But what was cool was the sense of being lost and no way to communicate, or tell where you were. I caught sight of a dot  and followed it home.
