What's it do?

its mapable for any game function that your USB joystick buttons might be mapped to.

i use mine for individual engine control in b24s as well as any keyboard command that I must use multiple keystrokes for.

i have mine set up for things i use but not all the time.  gear up/down, jump airplane, autopilot, tail hook, open bomb doors, damage, etc.

It's just like having 16 extra buttons for your joystick.

Did you use a Bodnar board?  Build is very nice looks professional,  I was able to built a full rotary trim control with a Bodnar board I don't use it any more since I got a tm warthog.  I plan on someday building g a full cockpit with all switches and dials since there are direct x boards available now it makes a lot easier.

Not Bodnar stuff. These are used circuit boards I modify myself. Im going to work on some analog controls to go with the button panel next build.
I'll PM ya regarding the simpit.

Where are these DirectX boards? The only thing I have seen are the Bodnar boards and it is really spotty IF the guy will answer emails or let you know if your shipment is on the way from what I have been told.
