Flags at Half for Whitney Houston
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:06:18 AM »
I mean, come on. In NJ they've got the flags half staff today for a Celebrity.
Ridiculous observation for something that's supposed to be done for heroes.

reminds me of this song, something "people like you more when you are gone, so why don't you kill yourself?"

besides if we lowered the flag for every actual hero, we may never raise the flag.

 :aok

I'm not a peacenik by anymeans, nor am I an imperialist...  but I've long been of the opinion that our flags should be at half mast as long as we have soldiers dying in our country's wars.  It would be a reminder to all those who sit comfortably at home that sacrifices are being made every day.   :salute

Flying it half staff for Whitney Houston is a huge insult to anyone who's ever died defending this country and her honor.  I thought this was going to be a joke of some sorts when I read the tagline...  I guess it somewhat is.

I saw a picture somewhere and it went something like this:

"Soldier who won the Medal of Honor, died to save his men,  forgotten by many the next day. " "Celebrity drug addict dies,  makes international news for a week strong,  and still going. "

Yup, my entire family is enraged that this happened.

Shes a dead drug abuser that had a carrier in music, that's ALL.

Other then singing the national anthem a few times, shes done nothing for this nation or our people, she only showed us what drug abuse can do to someone "some people" looked up to. But as a nation, our flags should have never been lowered for her.

I would vote (yes) if this was ever in a poll of things to be changed, yes it would be constant reminder, and yes..like stated above..while the flag may never come back to full mast, but when it does..we are at peace, or at best..someone didn't die today.
