Cap

My first ex did that in a 1994 Accord in 1997 when we were freshly split.  When she called B#%#ing about it I just laughed and hung up :)

LOL! Some people have nerves. Some dude a few years back had a small accident with his car. Front bumper broken. He wants to know how much to repair it. We advise him to come over and we can check it out and produce an estimate. Now he has another accident while driving to our shop. Guess who should pay for these damage in this "gentlemen's" mind.........

DA. SOB.

I work a in a dealership so we sometimes have to deal with alleged conception vice or missing feature. I had one guy call me everyday for a full month because his 2011 camry radio wouldn't accept more than 20 entries in the bluetooth, which is BTW perfectly noraml since it's how it was made in the first place. Geez, it work how it should. How exactly do you expect me to FIX something that work right?!?!

I could go on and on. Sometimes I'm afraid because it seems I'm responsible for others shortcoming and plain stupidness. I feel for ya Cap.

 i've had stuff like that.

i also had(notice i said had?) 2 people that'd call me or stop in to pick my brain. i don't mind usually. they were both customers when i worked here for the previous owner, and i'd hope to get them to start coming back.
after a couple months of this poop, i'd ask them.....what did you ever do about the last couple problems you asked me about. they both said pretty much the same thing......oohh....i took it to "XX" shop for repair.

i told them have a nice day, and when they wanted something repaired, please don't hesitate to call me. they asked me "well what about this problem i just asked you about?". i told them to take it to the guy that's been fixing their stuff, and ask him.

The lady that use to cut my hair had her new jeep catch fire and burn.  She was pissed off.  I asked what happened a few months later.  She said some factory investigators came down and found a rag stuck where it shouldn't be found.  He husband changed the oil and left a rag next to the exhaust.....

Every time I change my oil and recently change the water pump. My final work is to make sure everything is screw on or fasten on tight, no loose wires or cords, no tools and rages and anything eals that does not look right. Thank god for my OCD, I check it twice.

I did the brakes on my '81 Datsun 510.  Once.

That was enough.  I'll stick to building computers, thank you.

I love to work on cars that are old enough not to have any computers, but newer cars...  No way.  Fortunately, there is a shop here in my area that has been in business for decades.  The owner is slowly retiring and preparing his two sons to continue the business.  They are great.  Can fix anything, and without a bunch of BS.

You just have to ask everybody you know who the good mechanics are in your area.  There are lots of crappy ones, but find the guy that everybody recommends and you're usually good to go.

Detective Cappy :)
in all honesty, it often times feels like that. we never get the whole story the first time. we need to play "20 questions" with nearly everyone that comes in with any sort of driveability problems.

havent met a good mechanic I trusted.  not saying there arent any, but I have never met any.  and it has cost me a lot since at the first sign of major trouble, i go buy another car/truck, in my case it's been the cheapest option.

So 'It's broke' doesn't exactly work for you?

It's like going to the doctor and say "it hurts". Some data is missing.
