Game getting "Stale"
« on: February 23, 2012, 03:27:02 PM »
:aok I realize AH cannot just snap their fingers and make things happen over night, but the powers that be, need to start thinking about ways to increase their customer base and retain interest by their old members. How about starting to work on a Korean arena? The number of different aircraft would be huge for AH's customer base to enjoy and use. I have no idea how much money or how much time it would take to put a Korean arena together, but it seems to be the next step in improving a game which is already the "Gold" standard in WW2 flight sim's. Its starting to get a little old to just fight over "bases", which have no outward appearence to an airfield except empty hangars and runways! How about some railroads between certain towns, with damage points awarded for engines, box cars or what have you. Of course they would have anti-aircraft guns for train protection, but so what, the bases and towns have that now. I would rather see AH spend the time and money on the Korean arena idea, because that could open up a whole new customer base. Many, many vetreans who flew and fought in that war are still living and with a little advertising, could probley attract a whole new customer base!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

Don't play for a couple of weeks and go and read a book or something and then play the game   :)
It's you not the game it's you  :old:

I have drew up a business plan for AH but i left a window open and a gust of wind blew it away  :old:

I could write another one but I know nothing about business only pies and beans :old:

Those 88's are very relaxing with cup of tea  :)

There are no pies stored in this plane overnight

Well nothing stale. Been good noghts and bad. Bad or Good nights are not AH fault... always player induced. If you don't like WWII aircraft and history you are in the wrong place.

I've been here almost from the beginning.

No thanks. AW had a jets/korean arena and it was about as populated as the WWI arenas are here. Sure it had its hard core following, but you could almost make one with the custom arenas now and have enough room.

We had them before. Surprise the heck out of you limping home on the deck and the train ack would light you up!  LOL!! I don't know why they took them out. Maybe they got lost in the same folders as the sheep  :(

I doubt that. The only "stale" part of the game is most likely you. I've been here over ten years and still have fun everytime I fly. Sure there are some lame players doing some lame crap, but there is still plenty of ways around them. This game has sooooo many things available, and things to learn that no one I've known has ever gotten to "master" it. If you stick with one aspect, like anything else you will get bored. Try other things, learn other things.

I hear ya man, I'm getting pretty frustrated with this game. Take tonight for example. Rooks have all but 3 bases in Tank Town, and they were vulching our airfield and had the VH down at the two GV bases we had with their 100+ planes hoard. I didn't have much time to play and just wanted a quick tank battle but no, the retards have to go and shut the whole island down. I check at V6,V5 up north and the Bishops owned both of them and all the bases around. Its stuff like this that's pushing me farther and farther from the game, only logging about 1/4 of the time I was. I'll finish this month out that I've paid for and see if my opinion has changed but if not I'm not going another month.

It would be fine if I could log on and find the quick GV battles like I had been for months but like tonight and the past few nights there's nothing. No point in paying for something I can't even use.

I've been here almost from the beginning.

Same here, I think some people simply need to take a break and read a book, generally during a "horde" I will idle in the tower and read. Current book is "Fire in the Skies" about the Pacific Air War, quite an interesting read.

I think its a case of some players getting burned out, thus why I play AH2 and WITP:AE, if I don't feel like reading then I can blow an easy hour in WITP, which is a PBEM game so I generally get 2 turns a day in, one in the morning and at night.

Or upgrade your computer, I'm seeing graphics I've never seen before, I love the details so far seems like a whole new game.

what makes you think a korean era arena would do any better than the WW1 does right now?

Do unexpected stuff
.
When a horde strikes like it did at a83 tonite, 30 or so vulchers, no vh to take out lvts, no softack up, do something unpredictable. I jumped in the SBs and found 1 that covered half the runway. The horders were landing their planes and taxiing back and forth and I got 3 with the SB. They stopped landing and a FH came up and the vulchers got busy. Killed 3 more making very low passes taking out fighters on takeoff roll. Just landed a SB shell in their line of flight and they were low enough to get caught in the HE or debris field.  Had a blast till they took the maproom.  :old:

I find that it helps to not have this game as an exclusive hobby.

Many love Aces High for different reasons. If you are a furballer it's perfect and you will always find some fights if you try and it doesn't matter what the map looks like or what fields are taken. Rinse and repeat.
But some of us, myself included like the strategy aspect of the game. Grew up playing Monopoly, Risk, Chess, ect.
AH for me has lost some of the WW2 Sim feel and has become a Game. Hitech will slap me for calling it a sim I know.
I enjoy the Snapshots when available and wish more would fly in AVA where it relates more to a WW2 experience.

It's not the game but the MA. I think the two MA's with Arena Caps made for a more intimate fight and cut down on the hordes. The only protest was from squadies. If they could log in the same arena with thier CO I don't think they would care about 2 MA's
I always wanted to fight an impossible battle against incredible odds.

Been flying AH since summer 2007. whenever i feel like it's becoming "same ole, same ole", i pay attention to my wife for a few months...then return and love it all over again.

It's a vicious cycle.
