We won!

US finally beat Italy yesterday, first time in the history of them playing against each other, and in a stadium that Italy has never lost to anyone in.

Score was 1-0 with Clint Dempsey scoring in the 55th minute.

Also, the United States U23 squad (Basically the Olympic squad) beat Mexico 2-0 with a header in the 35' by Agudelo. Diskerud scored on a rebound of Freddy Adu's attempt only 1 minute after.


Other fixtures:
Germany 1:2 France
Netherlands 3:2 England
Columbia 2:0 Mexico
Argentina 3:1 Switzerland  with a hat trick by Messi (Big surprise :rolleyes:)
Scotland 1:1 Slovenia

United States next match is against Scotland on the 26th or March.

Italy had the majority of chances and the goal was somewhat against the run of play, but still the US played well, especially against a team as talented as Italy.

Only a friendly, but it does look like Klinsmann's strategy of playing the top teams whenever possible is paying dividends. The US looked composed on the ball and seemed to able to handle the pace of the game. Looking good for the World Cup qualifiers starting in June.

Not obvious from the post... did not click link.

But since no one answered... one of the posts said goal so I'll guess soccer.  

Intersting the US wining as it is not big at all over here.

Soccer is big in the US, just not at the pro level. More kids play soccer in the US than any other sport.

The only other sports leagues in the US with more spectators than Major League Soccer is the NFL and MLB. I think it's quite big.
