Yes shocking and no doubt Fundementalism has a part in it. But also be reminded that in the minds of the kickers the gravesights are those of colonial powers who fought a war for their lands and resources. Not for them. Europe has a long history of exploitation and human rights violations all across the African continent. Tho Italy was the biggest historical offender in Libya its hard to find graves for men who threw rifles away never fired once. Im not saying its right, Im just saying thats what they are thinking.

Europe didnt intervene in Libya cause it was concerned with its people. They intervened to protect their huge commercial interests and the fact that Libya has the largest untapped reserves of sweet crude in Africa. You think they dont know that? We went along with it just because were dumb.

To be fair, the Brits stood by us rather steadfastly in regards to Iraq and A'stan. Militarily I guess we owed them a favor.

However, this is the Frankenstein our leaders have created. Unfortunately it will be our children that have to clean up the mess.

We didnt "owe the Brits" anything in Libya cause they didnt owe mainland Europe anything to begin with. The Brits get very little oil from Libya too. But like us, and unlike the rest of NATO, they have the Tomohawk system that was crucial in taking out the Libyan air defense grid. Without the Yanks and Brits the rest of Europe would have been screwed. Of course their screwed anyway, who knows whats going to fill the vacuum left in Libya? All we and the Brits got out of it was another bill for the taxpayers.

What I was saying is, as Britain's ally, if they chose to jump in the fire we'll be right at their side. They have a good track record of doing the same for us.

As far as the vacuum goes, I think we are seeing what's in store by watching this video.

I find it appalling that the western nations will attack a nation due to some perceived "humanitarian crisis", yet will stand idly by as many thousands are slaughtered in places like Darfur, Syria, Tibet, etc.

Looks like the SAS needs to do a midnight visit & plant some AP mines in front of the graves.  Worthless Libyan salamanders.  Right or wrong, I despise the Arab segment of the human population.

You just looked at the pictures didn't you? The pictures that showed the U.S. having the most forces in the area.

You obviosly didn't read this part:

"...the weight of the conflict has fallen on the British, Italians, French and Canadians. The British have flown around 1,300 sorties, some 25% of the total, followed by the French with 1,200 and the Italians with 600."

That's ~60% of the total sorties flown, and there were 10 more euro-countries involved. Having the most stuff in the region does not equal "doing the heavy lifting", unless you count partying in southern Europe...

Aww, how cute. You totally took that quote out of context.

Here's the full quote:

"What it shows is that, besides the US - which dominates operations with over 8,000 personnel in the area in several ships and aircraft at the peak of the first weeks of the war - the weight of the conflict has fallen on the British, Italians, French and Canadians."

The euros flew most of the sorties (by far), i.e. did most of the "heavy lifting". Oh yeah the U.S. "dominated" by having a lot of stuff, but the euros did more with their stuff. The U.S. had 153 aircraft and flew 2000 sorties. Italy had 12 planes and flew 600...

All in all the U.S. did less than 35% of the "heavy lifting" despite having the most toys.
