My dogs are pitbulls and they have HORRIBLE gas problems!!! Not sure why, I do not give them human food or anything like that but some times they just stink and they are so loud that they jump up and spin around wondering where the noise came from!! Its so funny!

What kind of food do you feed her?

I use http://www.veruspetfoods.com/products/for-dogs/canine-bags/verus-life-advantage-chicken-meal-oats-and-brown-rice-formula-dry-dog-food.html

I also boil ground turkey, mix it with twice as much rice and mix the broth back in.  I add Ester C and glucosamine to this stew.  She gets 3/4 cup of this with her morning and evening feeding (mixed with the above dry food).  In the A.M., she also gets 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt and a hard-boiled egg mix in.

I know it sounds a little over the top but I fully intend to work her.  I bought her with every intent to train her in Shutzhund work, so having a strong immune system and good joints is paramount now, as it is not easy work.  Just like a human child, she needs her nutrition as she grows.  She also does not have any gas problems.

Look at the ingredients in what you feed her.  Make sure there are not a lot of fillers.  Soy is the biggest culprit.  It does not hurt dogs, but it is an empty filler.  It adds "bulk" to the volume of dry food, but they do not metabolize it.  Same with a lot of other harmless fillers.  It gives them gas, too.

There are inexpensive dog foods out there that are actually more expensive in the long run, if you do the math.  How much of it is filler?  I say that because if the dog doesn't metabolize it, it winds up as land-mines in your yard and you are basically paying for something that the dog is just going to poop out.  The better quality foods are usually worth the price as it does not wind up as a mess in the lawn  :D

The wife's male Carrin Terrier (back in the late 70's) was blind.  He was the canine KING of the SBD.  I would sit in my then fiancee's dad's recliner.  The dog would sleep behind the chair.  On more than once ocasion he would let loose an SBD and then slowly arise and come out and stare at me while the invisible fog of previous encarnation of Alpo consumed my being.  He would sit there with those glass eyes and smile like a Chesire cat.  That smell was enough to gag a Billy-Goat.

My mutt uses the SBD method, the problem is she likes to lay down between my rudder pedals and the base of my chair when I'm playing AH.

The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Are you feeding them kibble with GRAIN in it?  Dogs do not digest grain, so all you get is farts and big smelly piles.  I feed my dogs a raw mix (it is called Oma's pride - a mix of ground up chickens and some vegetables) - results, no farting, no huge smelly piles, and no food allergies.

Von's recipe above isn't a bad one either.  I use an Ice Cream scoop (it makes a perfect large meatball every time) - 2x a day my boys get 1 scoop of the Oma's pride (I use the chicken mix, but there is a turkey mix too), 1 big spoonful of plain yogurt, some frozen veggies on top (either green beans, or peas & carrots), along with a dash of fish oil / flax oil (for Omega 3s), 1 dog joint formula tablet (a glucosamine/chondroitin mix - my boys are getting older), and a half-scoop of dinovite powder.  Mix it all up into a disgusting mess (the more disgusting it looks, the better the dog likes it).  Add a few "charlie bear" liver treats on top for some crunch (and because as every good chef knows, it is ALL in the presentation).  Guaranteed to have your dog giving you top chef honors every day.

My old dog Codie was funny with this. He would be sleeping in say the living room and fart. He would wake up and look at his rear. He would lay his head back down until his stench reached his nose and then get up and go to the other room.

One time I was asleep. I was actualy dreaming I was walking down a street when I noticed this horrible smell. I was looking all over for what it was. I then woke up and realized one of my dogs let one loose. That one has some horrible gas.
Silence tells me secretly everything.
