World of Warplanes in game aircraft.
« on: March 06, 2012, 09:47:52 AM »
<sarcasm mode>Well this one nails it to the wall; as we all knew the game is not going to be anything other than just another game. All of us that really want AH to continue to be historical can finally take a breath now and relax since it is apparent that World of Warplanes isn't going to be a truly historically based flight game.

http://na.worldofwarplanes.com/media/show/66/

Also they are tossing in the F5U...aka Pancake and F6U in the US tech tree; the plane had this as it coup de grace from the BuAer (Navy aircraft acceptance review) "The F6U-1 had proven so sub-marginal in performance that combat utilization is not feasible."; and the 30 that were made only had 945 hours of flight time before they were sent to the scrap yard. The top of the tech tree is the F7U which was another disaster from the Vought company which was also responsible for the F6U.</sarcasm mode off>

Forgot to add the sarcasm tags since I found it funny while I was just looking for stuff to do this morning.

Is the plane you're referencing a version of the F6F Hellcat?

Its like their primary requirment for inclusion was "dude that plane looks kewl!!"
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

graphics look great.  I'll withhold judgement until it comes out.  If a P51 can turn on a dime, or a Spitfire can keep with the P47 in a dive, or the Il-2 can legitimately dogfight with a zeke, I'll uninstall it rather quickly.

I can see this game amusing me now and then when the MA is slow, or when I'm in the mood for 'secret weapons of the Luftwaffe', but I can't see it being even close to AH.

In that case you better save yourself the time and not even install it.  Any sort of realism is not what wargaming.net is aiming for, it's just another shooter wrapped in a planes skin touting arcade physics flight model.

Actually, I got the information from an interview the devs did with PC Gamer a few months ago.  Arcade flight model (physics) and air starts, no take off or landings and only exterior 3rd Person view, no internal cockpit view.
