Cap they are marked really clear on the cam/crank sprockets, as well as the rear of the housing from what i've gathered.  I plan on double checking by opening up cylinder 1 and confirming it is TDC.

I know they really stress the fact that you can bend valves doing this, but it appears they have it marked rather well on the chrysler 3.5.  I can't speak for Toyota, as I would never buy one.  :aok

most toyotas are....or at least used to be.....freewheeling engines. meaning they wouldn't bend valves. except the v6 engines.  most chryslers bend them.

it's a good feeling when you finish it up.

Yup,

I parked her in fear the leaky pump might lock up and shred my belt, which would definately bend some valves unless im at a standstill.

technically speaking, i have one. a 93 geo prism, which i believe is a corolla in disguise.

to be honest, while it's not fast, by any stretch of the imagination, it IS one of the most reliable cars i've ever owned. it was a freebie. when it was given to me, i parked it. it sat for nearly 5 years untouched. battery charge, and it fired right up. changed the oil, fresh tires, and it got the livin crap kicked out of it for nearly 5 straight years. the one note i made, was that when i took it to visit a friend in hazelton pa, i had to turn off the a/c to maintain highway speed on some hills. it gets nearly 40mpg too.

lol @ turn off the a/c.   I used to have a Cb setup with 200 watt boot and when I keyed the mic going down the highway my car would misfire.

Oh the car was a 1967 Mustang. Royce Cb in dash, twin husler att., power mic......

dayum........you prolly coulda stalled the car by keeping it keyed up long enough. i think those old stangs only had something like 50 or 65 amp alternators.
