« on: March 07, 2012, 07:14:28 PM »
I don't know about you guy's but I am hooked on that show . Rick does some fine freaking work there . I just wonder how long he has been in business ?
Any one else watch the show . Makes me want to build another shop . Right now though I need a cheap sand blaster . Working on a 1975 Kawasaki bike that needs blasting bad . Seen the guy's call in a soda blaster , i need to check those out .

I would watch it if they spent more time on the actual restoration process and less time trying to build up some phony sense of drama over the "big reveal" or the dysfunctional relationships between employees...

meh, no thanks

I agree on that part but that's just today's TV . Someone making some big buck's doing it but TV needs a change in general .

I don't watch it much but they do good work. They have a client base that will pay their price.

They are a good show and do good work but I cringe when I see them "restore" something very rare and valuable that is already in pretty good shape.

ANTIQUES ROADSHOW EXPERT:    Has this been restored?

OWNER OF RARE PIECE:               Yes

ANTIQUES ROADSHOW EXPERT:   The good news is that this piece is extraordinarily rare and worth $370,000 in original condition regardless of wear.

OWNER OF RARE PIECE:      (long silence)

ANTIQUES ROADSHOW EXPERT:   This one is wonderfully restored.............it would go for $900 at auction.

OWNER OF RARE PIECE:      (silently turns red)

I find renting a sand blaster a fairly reasonable option to owning one. And it doesn't sit around taking up room.
Yea, simply because I can

Because of that show (at least thats what im blaming it on  :D), i went out and bought an A-Treat soda machine (local soda company) for my basement..............I have it at a gents place being worked on now  :D

Funny story, i use to get sodas from this same machine when i was a kid riding my bike to and from elementary school, (Im 40 now)
Drove by the gas station (repair shop) a couple of months ago and saw the same machine sitting out front. Left a business card and a note saying if he ever wanted to get rid of it to let me know. I got a call the next day......seems the son of the guy who owned the shop (back when i was a kid) was cleaning out the garage due to his dad passing away. He asked me why i was so intrested in a beatup old soda machine, so I told him the story of me riding my bike to school, and usually every day after school, id stop at the machine and grab a soda................. Picked it up for $100, plus the cost of taking a load of junk in my P/U to the local recycler..... Its gonna cost about 800 to get back into working order but honestly its priceless in my eyes.  :aok  Ill post pics when its done.
