Rite of Passage
« on: March 10, 2012, 11:44:20 AM »
I haven't been in game in like three years. So I go download it to check it out. So far so good.

Then my son is playing and it freezes up on him. I go over over and hit alt+F4 and a choice box comes up.

What the heck is up with that. It use to be so funny telling the noobs that landing gear down/tail hook was alt+f4 and hearing them cry when they came back on.

I would believe this is the reason why they did it.

Apparently HiTech didn't find it funny for folks like you to harass his potential customers.  I can't say that I blame him.

Why not? It's been going on since I came over from Air Warrior. I can understand from HTC's point of view, but closing the game one time is not the end of the world, and MOST likely someone won't be flying a 262 either.

Its a rite of passage, same reason we have "Alt+F4 for nukes" on the b29.

Why not?

I never have understood why people think that just because a tard behavior has been going on for a long time that it should be allowed to go on forever.  It was juvenile harassment.  Nothing more.  It served no purpose except for a few guys to get their jollies.

I suspect HiTech only tolerated it as long as he did because he hadn't thought of putting the pop up confirm box in until recently.

Rite of who's passage?  I never fell for it, because I saw it happen shortly after I started playing.  I never though it was funny as a new player or now one that has been here for some time.

My Opinion

If they came back.

And that is the reason for the popup box.

troll?

if not, then the fact is alt-f4 is a command that works with every program in windows - it is the quit application command and not unique to aces high.  So now you know.

I've been using windows since the first version after DoS.  I have never used Alt-F4 to close a program, ever.  Assuming that everyone knows that that is what Alt-F4 does is silly.

Its a rite of passage, and has always been - the ones who reject it probably fell for it, instead of having a laugh they whine on a bulletin board.

I never fell for it, as I knew what it's function was before I even downloaded the game in Tour 27.    Keep trying to justify it though.
