To me, it's about that "gotcha" moment.  Every last one of us has had it.  It's that split second before you pull the trigger after fighting for position.  Mentally, you already know that you have the shot.  Then, with a smooth pull, you send out a short burst that does EXACTLY what you intended it to do.

I also enjoy the heck out of being able to fly with my dad.  That's priceless to me.

When I was young a friend of mine started a strange behavior.

Flying my spitfire then every now and again getting caught up in a death defying multi-con engagement,  if they are German planes more to the enjoyment. 

Then watching the last one, lets say mr Doom's 190 for example.  Panic and stick stir like a champion waiting and watching  until the moment to fire is there,   passing it up knowing he is squirming like a fish out of water until he crashes hopelessly into a tree or the sea.

I have two favorite things.  One is a great one-on-one fight with an evenly matched opponent.  Unfortunately, this is rare for me as I'm a below average pilot and people of my skill level seem to stick to the Spit XVI and La-7.  I love a great duel between the Yak-9U and P-51D, for example.

Two is getting guns on target and arriving home safely.  Even if I only get an assist, I have fun.  Plus, the more damaged my a/c is the better.  I once flew a full sector and made a three-point landing in an A-20 missing both ailerons, it was one of the most memorable and enjoyable sorties I've ever had.  That, and passing out on final approach and finding yourself stopped on the pavement.

For me it's the historical engagements provided through scenarios, FSO, snapshots, TDIWW2, etc.

Failing that, landing a good tater hit in the MA's. Love to watch that puff of orange fire then the after effects.

I enjoy getting into the fight with someone, trading advantages and disadvantages until one of us is dead. Unfortunately these fights are become more rare since more people are worried about their score.

Still, I would pay the $15 a month just to sit in the tower and listen to vox. The community is what keeps me here
