Map them to the hat switch and map the pinky switch to be the look up.

How long have you been here? 80% of players use the hat switches on their sticks. The other 20% are split between TrackIR and keyboard.

This is a skill I find very impressive.  I tried mouse flying and it was like being in a nightmare, the one where I'm being chased by bears on an ice skating rink while wearing flip flops.

I agree, I use a mouse for tanking and buff gunning (due to the sensitivity of the mouse being greatly lowered I have a more accurate movement then a joystick due to the dampening)

I use it very easily with my free hand. I will quickly move move hand to look for you then I predict your flight path by just knowing where my flight path is going to put me.

mouse is very easy to use, just think of the mouse as the top of the stick.

I use the numeric keypad just like you have preferred. That frees up the joystick hat switches for additional functions, giving me a big advantage in combat. Here's a picture of the way I map things:

You could map your X52 Pro hatswitches in pretty much the same pattern and get the same advantages. See the videos on this page for more details:

This system also gives you convenient access to a lot of "Extra" views that are not generally known to those using a more conventional system limited to hat switches, as you can see from the video clips on this page:

I don't like that set up bbosen has. You have no hands free to communicate. How are you going to tell your friendlies quickly where Charlie is? Communication must be at your fingertips. It is vital. I use the same stick and put all my views on the hatswitch with an "Up" option on the buttons giving me plenty of view to track all my cons. The 3 different zoom buttons on his hat swtich are just wasted space. You only need the toggle and you have 4 other button on the hatswitch not even being used, ie. NW NE SE SW.

I have updated the picture with my scheme. It serves me well.

For me, my right hand is on the stick, left hand does everything else. My throttle is right behind the stick (a small lever attached to the stick). 99% of my throttle work is when the target is already in my sights. The way I do it, I can jump between throttle, numpad, and vox in 2 seconds. I also have hat switches, so I can always keep an eye on them while working throttle.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I use the D button on the X52 throttle as my "look up" view button. I find this works quite well with the hat switch with the 8 views. Do you use the Saitek software?? As I am only using the throttle(Saitek) I find it works quite well.
