well you obviously didn't come to this forum to learn from your elders or to intelligently enter into a discussion either.

I'm not really caring that those who are around you pay your intelligence no mind, forcing you by want for attention to seek out others who are for all intents and purposes a captive audience. I'm just asking that either you find another captive audience to harass with your irrational insights, or you quietly observe what others have to say and then slowly and methodically compile a rational and reasonable responce with which to enter the conversation with. this spouting off at the mouth in every thread in an argumentative and contradictory fashion just to provoke the adults, because in your mind you believe yourself to be of superior intelligence to all us old fools, is actually getting to be just plain annoying.

He shouldn't have been in the helo, just one nut alone would put it over capacity.  Though I usually cast a dark pall over any actions in war, this is an exception to the rule.  He saved dozens of lives and fully deserved that medal.  It's just a shame that we got embroiled in that meat grinder in the first place.

-Penguin

Again... you associate "war" with an automatic "dark pall" enigma, stop being so absolute.  There are many things within a war that can be positive.  Stop being so grandeur in your statements, you're not impressing anyone.  Your knee jerking is getting the best of you.

People like Mr. Freeman are all that is right with this country.  God Bless him and may he be resting in peace.

Occam's razor says otherwise.  It's more likely that I disagree with most people here on most things than that I go out and try to figure out what really gets you all going while secretly agreeing with you.  What's most likely is that I will debate if I disagree and feel confident in my idea, then I continue until the other poster and I come to an agreement.  Obnoxious though it seems, consider the alternatives:

Leave the BBS (I've been here for years, so it's not like I'm pulling a prank)
Come here and lurk (For what other reason do we come here than to speak?)
Come here and voice my opinions until someone says "be quiet, child" and then give up like I'm Swiper from Dora the Explora.
Hang up my keyboard and stick to the joke threads (amusing, but not fulfilling)

Would you want to come here and do that?  I do my best to stay within the rules and what I've come to call the code duello of discussion and debate with regard to tone and thesis statements.  My discussions with mthrockor on economics are proof that I can respectfully disagree while maintaining my point and listening to the other person.  Dissent is the fabric of discussion, and though I may jump the gun I genuinely like hearing what you guys have to say.  Debating is like football, it's a contact sport, but you're not out for blood when you step on the field.  Even then, I try to keep it no more aggressive than a properly played game of soccer.

Again... you associate "war" with an automatic "dark pall" enigma, stop being so absolute.  There are many things within a war that can be positive.  Stop being so grandeur in your statements, you're not impressing anyone.  Your knee jerking is getting the best of you.

People like Mr. Freeman are all that is right with this country.  God Bless him and may he be resting in peace.

I thought I made it clear that he was a brave man who acted with courage in the face of adversity, and that this contrasted to the overall dark nature of war.  The very first thing that I said was an (albeit poor) attempt to copy the local joke that underscores bravery by illustrating how the large cojones of the person in question make otherwise mundane tasks difficult.  While not all of war is napalm covered orphans, nothing good happens often, either, and even that little bit is so small that it must be neglected as random noise in order in order to evaluate the period without allowing our more current, refined ideas to color our evaluation of the past.  That's what I was trying to say since the beginning.  I should have been more clear. :o

you do not discuss, you argue by parroting the views of others whom you have read, without personal rational ground or support while ever so unsubtly throwing $5.00 words around thinking you are all super-uber cool and clever.

well ill tell you something, the big words do nothing when spoken from a small intellect, and the only person you are impressing is yourself. to the majority of the adults, who post and read the posts of others, you are simply an annoying wanna-be know it all child.

i disagree, you should not have been more clear.......no you should have just been more quiet........

so here is some unsought advice.......dump the dictionary throw away the thesaurus step away from the wiki and go get yourself a life. your only young once, dont waste it trying to b.s. people, whom you have met only in a intardnet game and who you are likely never going to know in person, into believing you are so educated and so intellectual, cause honestly who, besides you, really cares how brilliant you think you are????

I don't know how to put this any other way, so: When I go to the AH2 BBS, I do not come to act out a fantasy, troll, nor is any other part of what I do contrived.  Penguin is only an alias that exists solely to protect my identity- it is not a separate persona.  Neither do I purposefully use longer words in order to sound more intelligent; rather, it is the slow pace of the careful editing that I perform upon posts such as these that causes me to use them.

Occam's razor says otherwise. blah blah blah...

Really? Does it?

I have grown up with and served with ignorant turds like you. I can spot the overly grandiose wording and the shallow ramblings of fools like you a mile away. Your biggest problem is that you don't know the meaning of "I don't know." You have built a facade of intellect and wisdom that only fools the dupes around you. Anyone who has actually lived the things that you can only read about can see right through you. You have no real understanding of the world, just a wikiesque, academic glimpse of life and the world. You are probably brighter than most of your peers and I have no doubt that you wear it on your sleeve.

I take great pleasure in exposing fools like yourself for the frauds they are. Some day your mouth will get you into real trouble and you'll get a hard lesson in reality and hopefully humility.

You're a 19 year old kid.

You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam ..

It's November 11, 1967.
LZ (landing zone) X-ray.

Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out.

Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again.

As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.
You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn't seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it.

Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you.

He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.

Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety.

And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!! Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.
He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise , Idaho

May God Bless and Rest His Soul.

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure heard  a whole bunch  about WhitneyHouston, Lindsay Lohan, Dr. Murray, that sicko Sandusky, and a 72- day sham marriage.

Shame on the media !!!

Medal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman

what really pisses me off is how some "patriotic people" are so fast on post news that are misleading such as the passing of this true hero.  that email you got has been around for a long time.  and hero's like him deserve to be recognized for what they did not for some other stupid reason such as this posting.

I consider some people worst than crap for using a hero's passing for some grandstanding bs.

floatsome  I am disappointing you didnt check the "facts" before you posted that letter.  and the above comments are not directed at you they are directed to those who pass on such bs chain emails.

semp

edit:  didnt read the whole thread but perhaps some checking should be done on the number of times he flew back and forth and the number of wounded he took out.
