This year is going to be a very tornadic year.
Im expecting to see at least one tornado up here in Western Pennsylvania near me. Im actually expecting 1985 to happen all over again. The fact that we have tree with leaves already coming and its only middle March, is very bad especially since most of our snow normally came in March-April the last few years. Tomorrow its projected to break the all time record for hotest day at over 80 degrees.
If you dont know anything about the 1985 tornado outbreak, 43 tornados (ranging from F0 to F5, 21 being F3 or higher) touched down in Eastern Ohio, PA, New York and Ontario Canada killing almost 100 people. It was the 3rd most costly outbreak in US history.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_United_States_%E2%80%93_Canadian_tornado_outbreak If you look on the map, there is an F2 and F3 tornado at the very bottom. Officially it was two tornados, but it was the same cell that formed them. Right as it touched down as the F3, is only 1 mile up the road from me. It proceed to come to my house and passed to the south by about 1000 yards.
My Dad was the fire chief of the local fire department and ended up having to do all the paperwork and everything else for the entire path of the tornado. He still really cant talk about it.
