It is quite a mental leap to go from behaving in a reasonable way and getting annoyed when your expectations are not met when others do not reciprocate, to just doing your thing internally for its own merit. You might realise how liberating it is once you begin down that path.

Be true to your own ideals and goals first and foremost and understand that in the bigger picture diversity is always a good thing.
