What's a reasonable firing range in WWI? 400 yds? 400 yds / 20 mph differential speed = 41 seconds of being plugged. That's why I gave up on WWI; you can't get a usable speed advantage. Altitude is useless; if you dive you rip your wings off or, if you don't, the high drag kills any excess speed almost instantly. Once you engage you are committed to a turn fight and the DrI wins.
Your completely wrong here actually, the other planes will rip their wings off or limit their speed for a start, the SE5a was well known for its ability to dive at high speed and not have the wings come off.
I dunno what your id was or when the last time you were in the WW1 arena but there was a fix to the DR1's flight model a while back, even at that when the DR1 was uber it still comes down to a pilot vs pilot I still killed the DR1 more often than I died when it had the uber flight model and even more so since the fix flying a camel.
Have ya considered not upping in the dominant airframe so these "newbies" have a better chance ?
Or maybe after a couple of fights when you know you are much better have ya thought about maybe taking it easy on the guy to encourage him to return ?
Yes and I have for a long time flown the F1 camel, what others do is out of my hands.
