Are those some fast drunks, or what?
« on: March 28, 2012, 09:11:00 PM »
I really didn't know where to put this, so it ended up here.

Has anybody calculated the speed at which our troops run?

Furthermore, has anybody calculated the speed at which a fully loaded combat troop is capable of running?

I don't know, something has me wondering if our G.I.'s might be moving a little too fast. I could be totally wrong.

There's also a certain amount of time it takes to get out of the parachute harness and grab your rifle.

Not nearly as fast as the flak gunners.  I was on the edge of a town trying to strafe the drunks but was too late.  The base switched as I crossed mid town, and flak got me as I hit the far edge of town.  I was well over 300 too.  How they got those guns repaired and firing so fast I have no idea! :)

the troops can run at 20 but a downed pilot can only manage a half hearted stroll.  :headscratch:
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

^ This.  Pilots are either too slow, troops are too fast, or both.

Because they have to keep up with the nascar drivers in the supply convoys.

I like dropping them with buildings or hangers between them and the map room.

Having been in the 82nd Abn, with all the junk you had to carry you did not run ANYWHERE. If you got to a fast stumble you were doing good.

1/325 AIR vet here.  They are combat light, which is why they can move.
